Realistically, yes, but CC and FS promised they would answer most of the
big questions. That would make them liars, right?

Alienating your audience is a *bad business*. Just look at the s9 ratings.

Would someone please tell me *what* questions you feel didnt get answered.
The only one that I can think of is how Scully got pregnant and since Ol'
Frankie boy pretty much said that none of the writers gave a shit in the first
place, I wasnt expecting much of an answer anyway.
Sam
That will be answered in fanfic.

Oh, I meant *real* answers, not the "Mulder was hiding in the desert for a

Me neither.

That's fine Al but you need to elborate then.
Exactly *what* questions do you feel didnt get answered or even addressed?

That sounds like a lot of work. At least 7 years worth. How much time do I
have?

11 am Monday morning. Seriously though, I've asked this before and got ignored
(which I why I tend not to post on topic ... no one ever responds)
BTW, ad and I were discussing it last night ... there is a quart of Cuervo Gold
sitting on my counter ... Do you have any idea how many times in one episode
you hear "Mulder (or Scully) It's me."
This could be a better drinking game than Dynasty (were you tossed back every

Dynasty and yes, I played the game)

What happened to Strughold? Is he still growing corn? Or raising bees?
Or whatever the hell he was doing?
What *did* happen to the bees?
When did M&S have sex, and *why* did they decide to?
Is William the result of the IVF or just from doing the nasty?
Did CSM actually do something to Scully so she could become pregnant
again?
What was Mulder零 mom trying to tell him right before she died?
So how DID they get out of Antarctica?
How did Krycek get out of the silo?
Why does Mulder have to stick his hand in everything?
How did Gibson get out of the core reactor without getting munched by
the alien?
What零 the deal with Emily just disappearing in her coffin?
Is Scully really immortal?
Those are just off the top of my head... :)

As if those were the only 2 possibilities. I'm pretty sure they DID
answer this one when everyone except Mulder claimed that she was made
pregnant by the chip.

Actually, one of the problems is that we got too many not very
specific answers.
The "miracle chip".
Scully letting Mulder into her bed one lonely night.
Alien implementation (Wasn't that what Reyes said?).
Some kind of unexplained "super soldier" experimentation.
A "miracle cure" from the space ship on the beach off the African
coast to which Scully was exposed.
There were probably more, but young William turned out to
have supernormal powers that could be removed by an injection
of some strange kind of magnetite. I don't believe Spender ever
explained how he knew this would work.
I came up with this list from memory (meaning it is suspect). I don't
keep tapes around for later review.

Life itself usually ends without any real resolution. Some people waste
about 630,720 hours (thats 24 hours times 365 days a year times 72 years)
without much of a resolution but that doesn't stop them from living them out
anyway. Just because we don't get all the answers doesn't
mean we don't get some of them.

Only a woman would ask a dumb question like this in the context
of a science fiction TV show. But, if it will make you feel any

Not necessarily. There's a few sharp-witted women out there
who know a dumb question when they see one.
And a dumb man.

Thanks for entering the realm of trolldom. I'd tell you to go fuck
yourself but you have no dick.
Yeah, and that's why humanity created ART, so that we could attach some meaning
to the frequently-meaningless real world. But the idea behind art is that the
creator has some idea what he's doing - where he's going with what he created.
Which is precisely what CC did not have, and what so many people find
infuriating after 9 years.
Imagine if, halfway through carving "David," Michelangelo decided it wasn't
really going to be a statue of a man, but rather... a giant PIG.. no, wait! ...
a TREE TRUNK!
Hard to imagine? Yup. It's still hard for a lot of us to imagine that CC went
into the last 3 or 4 or 5 years of the series as uttelry clueless about where
he was going as he turned out to be.

Worse, they had a idea that was working pretty well, and near the end they
decided to throw it out the window and make it all up as they went along.

It's a way of cheating the audience. It's like an author writing a series
of books, who then refuses to write a conclusion, or a conclusion that
fits with the rest of the series. The readers who have been following the
series, and financially supporting it by buying the books, expect and
deserve a good ending (not necessarily a happy one, but necessarily
solid).
Or, think about just one book. If the ending sucks, you are going
to be much more likely to think the whole thing was a waste of time and
money, no matter how much you might have enjoyed the trip. It's definitely
not because you *want* to forget the good parts, but because a certain
expectation was created and then destroyed. That's why I'll always try to
separate s8/9 from s1-7 in my mind; so I can keep enjoying s1-7.

I dont think even the writers had that one clear but the assumption is
that he is still growing corn in Tunisia (there was an allusion to the
bees in ... Im blanking on the characters testimony ... and there was
no indication that the practice had ceased)
> When did M&S have sex, and *why* did they decide to?
This is a background question that isnt neccessary to answer unless
you are trying to turn the show into a soap opera. I fully cop out to
being a shipper but not even I am interested in the when and why. It
was enough for me to know they did and that I didnt have to see it.
> Is William the result of the IVF or just from doing the nasty?
> Did CSM actually do something to Scully so she could become pregnant

Both questions that even the writers have basically said they didnt
care about so there was no reason to think they would have addressed
them. I frankly dont care if William is the result of natural or IVF
and I never expected an answer on that one ... I was mildly curious as
to your second question but not enough that I needed an answer. I
would say the answer to Scully's fertility was implied in Provenance
when Comer was healed by holding a piece of the ship. Scully spent
several days in Africa *sitting* on the ship. No real mystery there
if you were paying attention.
> What was Mulder零 mom trying to tell him right before she died?
Not germain to the mytharc and immaterial to the story-line

At this point, that has become a running joke and they are NEVER going
to tell us.

Why is this even a question in your mind, were you not paying
attention in Tunguska when Krycek told us he was let out by the
terrorists.
> Why does Mulder have to stick his hand in everything?
Are trying to be funny here?
> How did Gibson get out of the core reactor without getting munched by

Gibson is the biggest plot device of them all. Worse than William.
You can tell that by the fact that everyone (including Doggett)
ditches him without a moments notice. Gibson wouldnt have been
"munched" by the alien because the alien metamorphised in the reactor
and was no longer a killer (the end of The Beginning)
> What零 the deal with Emily just disappearing in her coffin?
This is part of my biggest disappointment with the show and I will
most certainly agree with you here in that this needed to be addressed
but considering they completely dropped the whole Emily arc, I had no
hope they would take care of this.
> Is Scully really immortal?
Again, immaterial to the mytharc and one you should never have
expected an answer to.

Strughold obviously grew the corn in Mel Gibson's next movie,
"Signs."

Based on Jeffrey Spender's testimony, and Bill Mulder's obvious
participation in Samantha's abduction, isn't it nice that Scully
named the baby after Mulder's father...NOT.
> > What was Mulder¹s mom trying to tell him right before she died?

Actually, I think it was. Perhaps she was going to tell her son
the role she and her husband played in his sister's abduction.
Perhaps she was going to tell Mulder who his real father was.

I'll take this one. He read his mind so when big alien decided
to run to the right, Gibson ran to the left and escaped. No?

It's not like giving up your baby. When Monica and Doggett went
to the desert, they probably called Mrs. Scully the strong
protector of Baby William to watch him.

What's the difference? Scully would have just eventually given
her away.

I think this is whats worst of all about what the X-Files became. I
mean, you look back just a few years ago at the Biogenesis/Sixth
Extinction 3 parter and the show still amazingly was churning out
tremendous episodes. While the early season 7 MOTWs were nothing
compared to pre season 6 ones, there were still a few gems like
Millenium and The Amazing Maleeni (although others might differ on
those :P). Then CC decided he would personally blow up his only
success by explaining the main storyline with stardust. Not only did
it blow up the mythology, but even the MOTWs were never the same since
then with garbage like 'Fight Club', 'Hollywood AD', 'X-Cops', 'First
Person Shooter' and 'Je Sousette' rounding out the rest of the season.
And of course things just got worse with Requiem and the pregnancy,
etc...
This is the kinda stuff that drives a hardcore Phile like myself
insane. This show was so damn good from 1993 to 2000 then CC blew it
up. Its not like circumstances demanded it, CC/FS personally decided
to take the show in this hideous new direction the second half of
season 7 and that, above all else is why the show tanked in both
popularity and criticism and is now cancelled.
-How Scully got pregnant
-Where Cancer Man was all this time and how he survived the push down
the stairs
-Where Marita was all this time
-Overdue explanation on Mulder's abduction
-Why the events of One Father/Two Sons failed to alert the colonists
to what was going on
-What happened to Cassandra Spender
-A reasonable explanation for Samantha other than this 'stardust'
bullshit. I mean, c'mon they said she died at 22 in the finale!!!!!
They can't make up their damn minds on this storyline whatsover!!!!
-_-
-Something more than just 'he was with Gibson' for the explanation of
Mulder's hiding
-What ever happened to those creatures from Fight the Future/The
Beginning and what happened to the ship as well
-More explanation than the little we got on the spaceships in
Biogenesis/Providence/etc...
I could go on forever... :(
I suppose whats worst is that there in all odds won't be a second
movie and we'll now get no reasonable finale whatsover since CC made
the TV finale mostly set up for a second film that probably won't get
bankrolled by FOX.
>-How Scully got pregnant
I'm pretty sure the starlight people did it. Maybe Satanical helped
(making her, not Fox, the father of the child).
>-Where Cancer Man was all this time and how he survived the push down

He was in New Mexico, having survived due to the immortality imbued by
whatever he took out of Mulder's brain and put into his own.
>-Where Marita was all this time
Sounds like she went back to work... or found another job. Perhaps she
sells Amway now.

He wasn't abducted. He ran away from whiny Scully and his dead-end job.
>-Why the events of One Father/Two Sons failed to alert the colonists

They were busy drinking Moosehead.
>-What happened to Cassandra Spender

Cassandra joined Samantha with the stardust. It's a good enough story,
and the Moby backing track was kewl.
>bullshit. I mean, c'mon they said she died at 22 in the finale!!!!!
Don't shout so!
>They can't make up their damn minds on this storyline whatsover!!!!
Me, neither.
>-Something more than just 'he was with Gibson' for the explanation of

Again, the Moosehead.
>-What ever happened to those creatures from Fight the Future/The

The ship was very evident at the end of the episode. All that schmoop
made me queasy.
And that's the truth.

I'm a shipper too, but the last thing in the world I wanted was for the
XF to turn into a soap opera, believe me. It's just that after watching
the M+S relationship develop over the years, it was difficult as a
viewer to then appreciate or even believe the *new* relationship - where
they're smooching and all - without at least being privy to a little bit
of how they got to that point. Just a short scene with some discussion
would have been enough for me.

So what if it's immaterial to the mytharc. It's still an unanswered

You know, I'd love to know if Gillian herself had any objections to the
way Scully was portrayed as a mother. And if she did, if she actually
was able to say anything. The way Scully cared for that kid was
atrocious - not at all like I would have expected the character to
behave, after desiring a child for so long.

Wow i LOVED Je Sousette and Hollywood AD. These two eps are surely
