I've got the distinct feeling that Ryan *still* isn't telling all he
knows about how he "killed" John May. While it's now occurred to me
that perhaps Ryan *is* John May -- with the V who originally took
Ryan's form having indeed developed a conscience but offering up his
human form to John May (this presumes that Vs switching skins is
possible, which has yet to be established either way) -- my gut
feeling is that Erica's ex-husband is John May.
Yeah, I think that Erica's ex-husband is John May *and* that Tyler is
still NOT his son. But again, this would take establishing how the
Vs' human forms were created. If the Vs' human forms are taken from
real human beings -- it could be that they just skin humans alive or
it could be that they clone a real human's skin or some variation
thereof such as "they skin 'em, but John was the first to discover how
to clone 'em" -- then it could be that Erica's real husband
encountered John May around that time, saved his life but suffering
mortal wounds in the process, but not before Evans tells John May to
take on his form. Shortly thereafter, John May (now in the form of
Dad Evans), finds out about the discrepancy in the genetic testing of
Tyler, sees that it's just an error that's beyond human technology to
find and therefore sees in the error the opportunity to distance
himself from Erica and Tyler.
I left out an additional detail for clarity: it could be that John
May in his Trucco form befriended both Erica and Dad Evans and that
would explain how John May could have infiltrated Erica's life so
easily.
In any case: the simple explanation is -- Ryan never found out that he
failed to kill John May. May survived through undisclosed means,
either he faked his death (a fake poison, a fake car bomb or other
faked-death explosion) or he survived out of just plain luck. Either
way, he befriended the Evanses and with the most dramatically-likely
explanation being that it was at Dad Evans's dying request, May took
on Dad Evans's form.
>Expensive electronic safes have reset codes known to every technician?
>Gee, who would think to steal the service manual?
Locksmiths are bonded. The only thing that I didn't buy about the
scene was the locksmith carrying the manual around. I would think
that he'd have simply required Val to tell him over the phone what the
make and model of the safe was and that he'd do the research and have
brought the reset code with him.
FTR, that safe wasn't *that* high-end. The High End of what you might
get at Lowe's, yes, but government-official-high-end or celebrity-
high-end, no.
