What does the "Went" means as Jeaques says he was "The Great Went"

In the two decades since TP, no one in this newsgroup ever came up with
a half-good explanation.
I do not speak French, but I suspect this line and others by Jacques
("I'm as blank as a fart.") make sense as puns, if one blurs the
languages together. Not that a simple idiom was translated from French
to English, but a bit more complicated.

Ok but i didn't qiute got Jacques's idea of " there's no tomorrow" and why
he was asking this Laura
and Laura replied that she was a muffin' so was it some kind of a hint that
she banged exclusively with Jacques or was a revenue for him though it is
well known that Jacques was a pimp for Laura?
