It would have been nice if this season they went from national,
international, global terrorism and focused on Jack, on rescuing him, while
he's trying to escape, perhaps he's the key to foiling some terrorist plot
to assassinate the first lady later on in the day, but the first 12 hours
were focused on breaking Jack out of jail.

It would have been a nice change of pace--and take the pressure off trying
to top themselves each season with threats.

Yeah, I totally agree. I hoped season six would have been "Escape from
China". That being said, I'm really enjoying season 4. I watched the
first 4 eps over the weekend, and I think hour 4 was quite possibly the
finest hour yet of 24.

My idea was to set this season IN China, where the Chinese government
faces a threat so dire that they are compelled to ask (and possibly
offer freedom) for Jack's help.

I can't say I'm unhappy at all with how this season is going, so far,
though. I just wish they hadn't done the capture at the end of last
season. 24 is constantly setting up cliffhangers in the final episode of
the season, then deciding they don't want to follow up the next year.

You know what? I completely agree with you. Plus, in some regards, it's a
little redundant: the family in danger, the terrorist kid, nuclear fallout
predictions, at al. With Jack as either the target or the goal, there would
have been a welcome change of pace. An advertisement some time back went
something like: "In the first season, he saved his family; in the second
season he saved a President, in the third he saved a nation ...now he must
save himself." Obviously the seasons inquestion were different, but you can
see what I mean: the only thing left for Jack to do is to save the world --
Can anybody say "War of the Worlds 2"?

That would have been a nice option, tho it would have been similar to
previous themes--and probably really expensive to film. A rescue of Jack
storyline would have been easier and cheaper.

Plus it would have been way cool if Chloe came busting in to rescue
Jack--after a year's training and a year in field ops.

I'm all for anything that gets rid of the CTU. To me the perfect
scenario would be Jack out in the field and Chloe driving around in a
high-tech van.

And the umpteenth presidential pardon--in writing.

I still like the idea of Chloe having had a year of training and a year's
experience as a field operative busting in the door, taking out a couple of
guard and dragging Jack out, and Jack in relief gives her a peck on the
cheek--causing her to blush--before taking out a few more guards charging in
and snapping back to getting Jack out.
