LOL

Thanks for that! The liberals here and in the Democrats newsgroup are
being total pussies about that crossposting thread. I wonder if its
because the Republican newsgroup has the entire Democratic newsgroup
killfiled, and vice versa.

Isn't it funny how usenet mimics life?

So in other words, you were just saying it because all the other

Hehehe. Yup.

Although it's kinda funny. I've been reading some of Rick's other
posts, and he has some unnatural obsession with the word "lie". Every
one of his responses pretty much are, "You are lying." "That's a lie."
"Lie lie lie." "I love lie."

Also, instead of making any coherent points he just calls people
idiots, etc. You won't be taken seriously in a debate if all you can do
is attack the other side.

But, we're used to that. After all, if we disagree with the President
we're "traitors" apparently.

The thing that cracks me up the most is that, whenever somebody tries
to make a point, or at least asks someone to respond to a point, they
instead just say something like "Shut up stupid liberal", instead of
actually engaging in a discussion.

It is not incumbent on anyone to prove a negative. It is the task of the
Bush detractors to prove he lied about the WMDs, not the other way around.
All arguments therefore generated downstream from that base accusation are
on shaky ground at best. If you have proof of Presidential malfeasance and
think the US Congress or the FBI would be interesting in knowing about it -
write them a letter and spare the folks here that are interested in chatting
up 24.

Sign it Jack Bauer, I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.

WOO WOO! Here comes the clue train! Last stop: you.
I don't recall seeing anything about lying about WMDs in the original

I could be wrong, but there was no mention of Bush lying to go to war
with Iraq in there. Can you find any?

Got it.
Allow me to, at least, respond to the wiretaps. From the Foreign
Intelligence Surveillance Act

Notwithstanding any other law, the President, through the Attorney
General, may authorize electronic surveillance without a court order
under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for
periods of up to one year if the Attorney General certifies in writing
under oath that-

...snip...

(B) there is no substantial likelihood that the surveillance will
acquire the contents of any communication to which a United States
person is a party; and

For clarification, the definition of a "United States person":
(i) "United States person" means a citizen of the United States, an
alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence (as defined in section
1101 (a)(20) of title 8), an unincorporated association a substantial
number of members of which are citizens of the United States or aliens
lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or a corporation which is
incorporated in the United States, but does not include a corporation
or an association which is a foreign power, as defined in subsection
(a)(1), (2), or (3) of this section.

To make sure I'm not quoting it out of context, here is the source:
http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode50/usc_sup_01_50_10_36_20_I.html

Now please read, for example, this article:
http://www.newsobserver.com/114/story/387483.html

Note this sentence: "Even as he delivered a lengthy defense of the
program, Bush stepped back from the seemingly strong opposition he
expressed last month to a public investigation of his decision to allow
the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on communications between
people in the United States, including U.S. citizens, and those in
other countries in suspected terrorism cases."

So, to sum up. He authorized the NSA to eavesdrop on communications
that involve U.S. citizens, who fall under the definition of a "United
States person". So, for this to have gone forward, the Attorney General
would have to certify under oath that there is no substantial
likelihood that these wiretaps would apply to these citizens.

So, either (1) he did swear this under oath, and therefore could be
guilty of perjury, or (2) he did not swear this under oath and thus
this monitoring violates 50 USC Sec. 1802.

In fact, anyone who is colluding with, conspiring with, aiding
and abeting, or otherwise supporting terrorists are themselves
subject to the Patriot Act on -equal- par with the terrorists.

Don't believe it? Try contacting some al-Qaeda liaison at the
Al Jazeera network and see how fast your ass gets red flagged
and ALL of your communications--electronic and otherwise--
tapped, surveilled and cross-referenced faster than you can
say "Guantanamo Bay, Baby!"

But of course, the milquetoasts protesting NSA wiretaps-without-
warrants are mainly Liberals, or Republican politicians fearing
narrowing margins in their districts for the mid-term elections.

Liberals fear the wiretaps because of their consistent support
of terrorists and consistent treason against our US Government,
our US Military, and against mainstream Republicans in general.

In fact, let's see if the FBI, CIA, NSA, HLS, et al are getting
"hits" on YOUR conversations, you anti-American Liberal scumbag!

Way to generalize!

> of terrorists and consistent treason against our US Government,
> our US Military, and against mainstream Republicans in general.

Here we go again. How is disagreeing with the President's policies, or
being opposed to a war, classified as "treason" exactly? Let me
rephrase the question so it's more relevant to our discussion. How is
demanding that the laws of this country be obeyed (i.e. FISA)
treasonous??!!

I don't _fear_ the wiretaps. I have nothing to hide. I am, however,
_opposed_ to them. There is a big difference there. And unlike you, who
apparently has to attack anyone who disagrees with you, I respect your
support of the wiretaps because every man's entitled to his own
opinion.

> In fact, let's see if the FBI, CIA, NSA, HLS, et al are getting

Yay! You know how to use Google Groups to search for conversations by
me! I hope it made for some interesting reading. What, in my
conversations that you so expertly located, is anti-American? Am I
anti-American because I want the laws to be obeyed, or because I an
opposed to a particular war that we are involved in?

Also, I'm not really a liberal, I'm fairly moderate. I agree with the
Democrats on some things (Iraq war, civil liberties) and with the
Republicans on others (abortion, faith).

Furthermore, who the hell do you think you are to call me un-American?
How do you arrive at the conclusion, after reading a couple of
conversations, that you could possibly know one way or the other about
my political leanings? I question our leaders, whether Democratic OR
Republican, because I love my country, and am proud of it, and don't
want to see powers abused.

Let's sum up what I've done:
(1) Called out "Rick" for accusing the original poster of lying when he
wasn't lying about anything.
(2) Explained my position on the wiretaps, and fully backed up my
assertions from sections of the U.S. Code.

In return, instead of debating the merits of my response, you've
decided instead to:
(1) assume I'm a liberal because I disapprove of some things the
President is doing
(2) call me anti-American when you don't even know me, let alone how I
feel about this country (I love it, by the way)
(3) imply that I'm guilty of treason, simply for disagreeing (?)
(4) imply that somehow I have something to worry about if the FBI, CIA,
NSA, DHS read my conversations. Fine, then they'll know that I am
opposed to this president and that I am interested in computers.

Why can't ANYBODY actually disagree with some facts, or opinions, and
have a real debate, instead of throwing insults and repeating the
mantras of the Republican talking-heads?

Like, seriously. Can you even have a real discussion, or can all you do
is throw the usual insults around?

I'm ready to talk if you want to have a respectful dialogue. If all
you'd do is fire off another salvo of (completely baseless) accusations
and labels, then good day sir.

Also, I don't understand the atheism quote.

No, you were lying. You were asked to support your claim, and you not

If you weren't lying, you'd be able to support your claims. Until you

When did you laugh harder? When Kerry admitted defeat, or when Bush

That FY gesture really summed up his presidency, I think.
