Well...though I don't know as much as most of you...if this is
true...unless they alter the rules...

they STILL should get rid of JFP.

Just get rid of him. Nobody needs him.

(except maybe MB for the "Vince McMahon Amusement and Rating Potential"
factor)

Jeffs quote:

"You can't do the season and not invite your most notorious person,''
says Probst. ''And Fairplay delivered, I will say that.'' Does that
mean he delivers a victory? Don't bet on it, laughs Probst. ''This guy

is no threat to win this game -- zero.''

So much for JFP.

JFP is not Survivor's most notorius person. That honor goes to Richard
Hatch.
JFP is not even the most notorius player from his season. That honor goes
to Rupert.

I have to wonder if Burnett is maybe 'wooing' JFP and his
flesh-eating-lady-friend towards doing a reality TV series. Why else would
he use up one of the precious few slots in 'Half-Stars' for someone that
wasn't even in the timeframe from which the players would have logically
been chosen?

Rupert already had his second shot with S8/SAS. So he was out, just
like Stephenie was out because she had her second shot with S11.

The point is "Fans vs. Favorites," and JFP is definitely a fan
favorite--the Survivor fans love to hate.

And the asterisk after "Favorites" is "*Those Who Didn't Win Already".
That lets out Tom Westman, for example.

The little blurb about Amanda made sense until it said she knows how to play
the game. Ultimately, at the final TC, she proved to be somewhat clueless
as she struggled under the incorrect notion that you have to deny 'playing
the game' in order to win it.

More likely "none of the winners said yes or demanded more appearance

Wha? Are you saying that IYO she is 15 pounds too heavy, or 15 pounds
too light? She does seem to have replaced the weight that she lost
during S15, but I would certainly not consider her to be the least bit
overweight.

Or maybe Tom Westman was asked before the "Fans vs. Favorites" format
was finalized. Maybe MB was originally thinking about another All-Stars
and then changed his mind to Half-Stars, who knows.

I really wish you would stop coming up with these clever
reinterpretations of events, even after the participants involved told
you what really happened. And especially after you contradict yourself
as well.

Amanda would have touted her own achievements more if a) she hadn't been
so burned out and depressed by then, b) she hadn't been counting on the
jury's anger toward Todd for backstabbing so many of them.

It's odd how you are now denying that Amanda knows how to play the game
after your having told us right up through the Reunion that she was the
most deserving player to win the $1 million. As I recall, we had to
convince *you* that the final TC is a crucial, maybe THE most crucial,
part of the game and Amanda didn't deserve the $1 million on that basis.
But she didn't screw up the rest of the game till then, and it's
OBVEEUS what Amanda would have to do in Half-Stars to avoid making that
same single mistake twice.

Neither, I just think MB is having too much fun playing word games
here. BTW, I come from a province that has it's share of oddly named
towns like, Eyebrow, Elbow, and of course my favourite -- Love, Sask.
Their population "swells" every Feb. 14.

The fact that you soak up 'excuses' without thinking about what really went
on is your choice.

> Amanda would have touted her own achievements more if a) she hadn't been
> so burned out and depressed by then, b) she hadn't been counting on the

Which, of course, plays directly into what I wrote. If she didn't think
'backstabbing' was some 'wrong' that you had to avoid admitting to at all
cost she would not have been so depressed about playing an excellent game
and she wouldn't have expected the jury to vote against Todd simply because
he was willing to own up to being a backstabber.

> It's odd how you are now denying that Amanda knows how to play the game
> after your having told us right up through the Reunion that she was the
> most deserving player to win the $1 million.

The only 'odd' thing here is your lack of reading comprehension or inability
to apply logic. Most people that watched the show recognize that the game
Amanda played for the first 38 days was much better than the one she played
on day 39. Her performance before the jury revealed a lack of understanding
about how a 'winning player' should present themselves before the jury.
There is no contradiction in what I said.

> As I recall, we had to convince *you* that the final TC is a crucial,

Bouts of delusion, Steven?

> But she didn't screw up the rest of the game till then, and it's OBVEEUS
> what Amanda would have to do in Half-Stars to avoid making that same

Nothing I said contradicts that.
Meanwhile, the obvious thing you claim she can avoid might not be such an
easy thing for her to accomplish if she really is one of those people that
believes they have gone through their entire lives without hurting anyone.
It would make far more sense if Probst had commented that he wanted to see
if she had learned how to play the game than for him to portray her as some
sort of master after she failed so miserably at the crucial moment.

She would have hooked up with Aaron this past season if the 'twist' hadn't
separated them. As it is, rumor has it that she will be hooking up with
someone in this next season.

Rupert may have been better liked but he wasn't "notorious" and JFP's
post-show exposure has certainly eclipsed Rupert's.

Separately, the ages are more diverse this time around, which I hope will
make things interesting:

20's- 8
30's- 7
40's- 4
50's- 1

The youngest new female is 29 so male viewers who tune in for the eye candy
will have to be satisfied by returning players Parvati, Amanda and Eliza.

Yes I do - I don't see a whole lot of muscular tone in that picture.
I don't see much sign that the woman in that particular photo is up to
doing strenuous challenges - and based on Amanda's profile from S15
you'd expect her to look ultra-fit.

I think she looks a LOT better in the photo at
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor15/survivors/amanda.shtml

Don't forget - I was a big fan of Amanda all through season 15 largely
based on her birthday (my wedding day) - I was consistently dumping on
Courtney and Ashley. (Among the men, I was dumping on Todd and Frosti)

I >am< looking forward to season 16.

does Cirie and I wonder if that picture was taken before or after the 30
pounds she claimed she lost in preparation for S16. Ozzy's looks like the
same picture I recall from his original season. I suppose it's too much to
hope the guys all got haircuts after their pictures were taken- there are a
lot of long hairs in the group.

Her S15 profile is that she was a model/pageant queen, lived in LA, and was
trying to learn about the fashion industry. The only part of her profile
that hinted at physical fitness was her 'hobbies'.

That photo doesn't show her legs, arms, or belly, either. I don't think you
can compare the two photos and make any determination about her weight
difference.

Me too. If she lasts more than a week or so in S16 I am sure her body will
look just as blurry. ;-)

I am too, just because it is Survivor. The cast isn't all that inspiring,
though.

Let's see...some guys think that Amanda looks pudgy (yeesh). and some
think that a 29 year old girl is almost over the hill.

I can only imagine what you would have said if MB had been able to get

Yup - the catch is a lot of male producers figure the average woman's
dream guy has long flowing locks. The Harlequin Romance cover male in
other words.

About the only exceptions this season are Yau-Man and Johnny Fairplay
who is in a world of his own and wouldn't be any woman's dream lover.

If Amanda has bothered to put on a few extra pounds before beginning
S16, that's a good strategy. Would you prefer all the women to start
the game looking like Courtney did?

We've been through this in past seasons too; I recall how some fans
actually thought that Elisabeth (S2) and Amber (S8/SAS) looked so much
better after a month of starvation. Why? I think it's partly because
our culture has created a much higher standard for female thinness now.

They've been rerunning the old Star Trek episodes from the 1960s on my
local TV stations. And the female guest stars in those episodes look
positively overweight by today's standards:

Yes, they certainly do. And your point ???

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Why do you feel it is YOUR
place to dictate what others should or should not find attractive ???

No one said Amanda's gaining weight was NOT a good strategy and no one
said all the female contestant's should look like Courtney at the
start of the game.

Your entire argument is that of an extremist (left or right - take
your pick) who tries to make the debate about something other that
what it is actually about, so you can "win" by "proving" something
which is completely irrelevant.

If Amanda trained at Wendy's so much the better for her. I thought
Christy (who seems to have done likewise) did a wonderful job up to
the moment she made her critical blunder- which I don't think was due
to her deafness.

I don't think the season 8 contestants suffered the way earlier (and
later) seasons suffered. Both of the aforementioned ladies looked
pretty grim IMHO by the time they were booted. I'd argue my favorite
contestant was in the worst shape of any contestant when she was
booted up until Janu or Courtney.

I don't go for the pro-ana babes though when it comes to Survivor I
most like the ones who start a little pudgy on day 1 but look lean and
muscular by day 10-15. Now admittedly at least half of these have
alienated a lot of fans by that point but ...

I think it might be that the gay guy is safe. Women can trust them not
to hit on them so they can relax while they do their job. It won't do
any good for a heterosexual male to take a job if the women don't feel
relaxed enough to let them do their job.

Mary is pretty but I'm pretty sure the boobs are fake which is a bit
of a turnoff. For the overall body that looks the best to my eyes I
would have to go with Alexis Jones since she's in great shape and

It's no more the "dream career" than becoming an OB/GYN so that you can
look at women's vaginas all day long. Or for a woman to become a
urologist so she can inspect men's penises all day long.

Fashion design is a *creative* endeavor, of course.

Perhaps straight men can't easily conceive of women's fashions that
would appeal to *women*, rather than just looking attractive to men.
Straight men are programmed to think of women as attractive to *them*.
How many straight men know what styles would make a woman feel good
about herself without biasing it toward his own male-oriented preferences?

Gay men might be able to look at the woman and not try to design a
fashion that men would like, but that women would like.

Hey, maybe that's why so many of these fashions emphasize the super-thin
near-anorexic look: That's what gay men consider to be attractive in a
woman--the less woman the better! :-)

She definitely looks plastic.

Tracy looks like she might be suffering from surgical additions as well,
though ironically, Natalie does not.

Sounds like you live in a cave if your own experiences haven't shown you
that the statement is correct.

Does it really perplex you that effeminate careers would appeal to
effeminate (women and gay men) people? The gay men working these jobs aren't
usually the masculine gay dudes.

No, it doesn't really perplex me. I just find it odd that heterosexual men
spend so much time talking about how they wish they could get their hands on
more women, yet they avoid the careers that would lend themselves to such
opportunities.

Many straight men have what their wives call ' no fashion sense." You've
seen it on TV...plaid pants (not golfers), the guy wearing his shirt
inside out without noticing...the guy smelling the shirt on the floor to
see if he can still wear it...etc.

Gay men are more in tune with fashion.

I didn't look it up but I KNOW that there ARE some straight guys who do
hair...and who are designers...but it still surprises me that you wonder
why "Horny the Cab Driver" doesn't have his own line of lingerie. :-)

You're hot for the Latina ladies eh? I'd give Alexis Jones the nod over
Mary but from her picture she looks like she'll be way too perky.

The boobs (Mary's) are almost certainly fake, and yes that does matter.

> Natalie Bolton ain't to bad on the eyes either.

Only if you put a bag over that horsey face. With a name like BoltOn
she's pretty much destined to have a boob job...

I'd have to look up all the other contestants, but she'd definitely be
in the running (I'd want to see her without makeup or the photo being
touched up before making a final decision).

I used to think that when I was young, then I realised that you don't
get to chose which vaginas you get to look at...

Because most straight men realise that getting to put their "hands on"
women in these professions isn't sexual and that if they get good jobs
and make lots of money they'll get to sleep with them instead.

Aren't you a straight guy? Did you work in any of the profession you
mentioned? If not, why?

I am a co-owner of a jewellers' supply wholesaler which deals a lot in
beads and pearls as well as the fittings to make them. Most days my
brother and I are the only males working there with a clientele that
is at least 2/3 female.

Working close by several attract women I consider to be one of the
perks. I _certainly_ don't think of my career in terms of getting my
'hands on more women' and I seriously doubt most adult men think that
way. Appreciating at a distance you bet but getting physical? Nope.

Well, gee, I never wanted to be a fire fighter or a football coach either.

Side note: If Amanda was on your favorites list just because of her
birthdate, why wasn't Peih-Gee on your favorite list just for her job?

I think my original statement went over the heads of pretty much everyone
responding. Sometimes you people take things way to literally.

Given the other topic going on in this newsgroup that's a wise
decision. Otherwise you could wind up having a LOT of money going out
the door in child support or if you avoid that issue you could just
have a lot of women upset with you for spending time with one of the
other ladies. Not a good work environment. Plus I doubt your wife
would care for the competition. ;)
