I have been trying to think of my favourite episode and try as I might I
can't seem to whittle it down past 5, there is just so much about Stargate I
enjoy! If I tried the same exercise with any of the Star Trek series I could
probably could get it down to 1 or 2, anyway it would be interesting to see
what other people here would pick my choices I will post tommorrow cause I
am still thinking about it lol!

I'm waiting for the SG1 episode that stands head and shoulders above the
rest like the episode of Star Trek TNG where Picard is scanned by the probe
that sucks him into a false world where he lives his whole life on another
world as another person and raises a family and then in his old age
discovers that he is the one that the probe his world sent into space
contacted....

Episode "Inner Light". I've got two or three sound files of that flute tune.

Totally agree and my second choice for number 1 is the quadrology
consisting of:
a) "There But For the Grace of God"
b) "Politics"
c) "Within the Serpents Grasp"
d) "The Serpents Lair"

Finally, third choice is "Cold Lazarus".

Sorry, but these are evenly matched so they all rank as number 1 IMO.

Hmm, whilst I wouldn't personally rate this episode in my top 5, I have to
say it was a very unique idea. The aliens were crystals!

It didn't get into my top 5 as i said, but I think it is definately a good
idea, and is amost unique among modern scifi shows. The only other show that
I can think of that did this was The Next Generation, with "home Soil",
season 1, where a crystaline life form was involved.

but I did like this episode overall :)

I guess our favorites are the ones we can remember the plot and the title or
just the plot. As I think yours are s1 but i cannot remember without looking
them up I can also say I may have a favorite in S5 and just don't know it as
i've only seen a few s5 eps.

"Tangent" is good, as is the Exodus/Enemies two-parter.

This is one of my favorites as well. It fills in some of Jack's past.

And I am a sucker for the pilot. "Children of the Gods"

But my favorite line comes from "Secrets"
~"Its O'Neil...with one L. There is another Colonel O'Neill..He has no sense of
humor what so ever" (I'm paraphrasing...I'm tired :) )

Just off the top of my head (and database).

Window of Opportunity
Upgrades
Point of View
Wormhole Extreme

They are my top picks, not necessarily in order.

I think that's probably an exercise in frustration, no way I can narrow it
to less than five....

Children of the Gods
Fire and Water
Forever in a Day
Meridian
Enemy Mine

Ack....that was hard enough.... ;)

With exception of S2's "The Serpents Lair" and "A Matter of Time", all
the episodes mentioned are from S1. S1 and S2 episodes re-established
that original feeling of awe and wonder I felt when exiting cinema after
seeing the film back in 1994.

I'm quite familiar with all S1-S5 episodes as I have all the DVD's.
What's memorable about the quadrology noted above is that prior to it, I
thought of "Stargate SG-1" simply as yet another Sci Fi show. These four
episodes caused a re-evaluation of it and led to the high regard I have
always held for this masterpiece of broadcast art.

I excluded that one one purpose :)

The CE in Datalore was just a big bad monster, and tbh in Silicon Avatar, it
wasn't that much nicer. In Col Lazerus, it was a civilisation that was
harmless. Whilst both crystal-based, I think they are very different types
of crystal life forms - you wouldn't say that a Tiger and a Human were the
same, just because they were mammals :)
