The stargate, the key to unlock the universe, has gone public. In the wake
of the victory over the Ori and the vast toll on Earth, the truth has
finally been revealed--a year ago.
Now a long-held dream of humanity has been given form, we have gone forth,
traversing that vast frontier, our destination: ... the stars. Moreover
aliens are among us. Stargate: Command has been reconfigured to safeguard
Earthers off-world and aliens on-world. They are the experts, the eyes and
ears on the frontlines and homefront of humanity everywhere. This is their
story.
STARGATE: FRONTIER
Not since the days of the Old West or travellers to the New World the Far
East has their been so many who have travelled--certainly nowhere near as
far as this new generation of settlers onto the Beta site, former home of
the Jaffa and Tokra. Nicknamed "Beta Earth" or "Better Earth", the settlers
stake out their claim for a new life on a new uninhabited world.
And then the meteor shower struck. However the meteors were mostly harmless.
What was in them is not--notice the key word: "was".
STARGATE: OUTPOST
On a planet on the far side of the galaxy a citadel exists. SG1 arrives and
are met by the locals who possess advanced technology, similar in level to
the Tollan. The locals show them to a guest compound while arranging for
diplomats to meet. The diplomats wish peaceful coexistance and invite more
to come and stay and have an exchange of ideas. SG1 is given a small object
as a token of friendship.
Back at SGC the object is studied and it is revealed that it contains a cell
culture, cells whose DNA matches that of one Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill--tho
Jack has never been to that planet. They try carbon dating to estimate when
the sample was taken from Jack, only to discover the sample to be at least 5
to 8 centuries old. They also find a microscopic engraving that resembles
Jack and an enscryption in a language similar to Alteran that translates as
"Once and Future King".
SG1 returns and asks for an explanation and are told answers will be
forthcoming ... in time. Trust must be built up. That is why the compound is
there--for them. That's when the cyborgs attack. After a brutal battle,
their wounded leader tells SG1 their help, the Tauri's "essence" is needed
... to save them all.
They don't know what that "essence" is, only that their arrival would be the
one thing that can stop a Doom that would end ... "All There Is". They only
discovered the artifacts a few decades ago and have been trying to unlock
the data encryption on the files and only in the last few years have gotten
that far. The Tauri is invited to set up a permanent station so that
together they can unravel this mystery and save them all.
STARGATE: MICHAEL
The story of a wraith with a conscience. Torn between two worlds, wraith
and human, Michael helps the very people who fear and loathe him while he
seeks to find his place in the universe, along with his sidekicks, the
somewhat vain psionic Adria, and a revived and reluctant techo-savy Fifth.

Let's call it "Michael's Trip"
Lemme guess, he has a phobia of lightning and electricity?

*RECENT EPISODE SPOILER*
Except.. didn't we just see the Jaffa home world destroyed by the Ori?
Vala's daughter was pretty busy laser blasting the hell outta the weapon
that was used to defeat the replicators. Also, she did say that it was
the one threat against the Ori in that galaxy...
The Beta site is a different world that Chulak, the Jaffa's homeworld. It
was on a planet when the Jaffa and Tokra were still fighting the System
Lords, several seasons back. Eventually they got into a spat about methods
and they split up their alliance and the Tokra split from the Tauri.

uhm... Dakara?
Stargate: 4400?

Stargate: Smallville?
This idea actually sounds kind of interesting. Not sure how I like the
Jack clone thing though.

Please no Fifth....
It was thinking more SG1 meets ALIEN NATION, with stories set on Earth as
well as stations and colonies on other worlds. Aliens would be trying to
assimilate on Earth and tauri would be learning about other worlds and alien
cultures. Natch, Dr. Jackson would be the primo candidate to be in charge
since he's the world's expert on aliens.

I was thinking more STARGATE meets DANIEL BOONE. Here you'd have humans on
the frontier, dealing with an alien landscape and discovering the planet
isn't as uninhabited as first thought. Whether the alien creatures they
encounter are native, from the meteors, or a combination thereof, would be
something discovered during the course of the series. Meanwhile we would see
life develop in microcosm in a small town, and dealing with civilization
starting anew, kinda like on DEADWOOD.
Who said the cell culture was taken from a clone?
This would differ from a colony and being on the frontier because there's
this very advanced alien civilization that the humans would be living in the
shadow of and trying to determine their agenda, their connection to Earth,
the Alterans (aka the Ancients) and how on Earth--or off Earth--could a DNA
sample from O'Neill being over half a millennium old? And who told the
natives they needed the tauri "essence" and what exactly is our ...
"essence"?

He could be recast. This I saw as STARGATE meets ANGEL. Michael is a
brooding soldier, mistrusted by Wraith and Humans alike who seeks a better
way, wandering the universe seeking a purpose and a place to fit into in a
universe that seems to revile him.
After the Ori's eventual defeat, Adria could reappear (cuz I'm suspecting
she might be key to defeating the Ori, a great personal cost, thus the
specific use of the word "reappear"), massively depowered but still having
some telepathic and telekinetic abilities that would be useful when
encountering other peoples.
After being beaten by RepliCarter, Fifth could eventually rebuild himself
tho weaker, less powerful than before. He would be able to morph into
various humanoid forms (while at a distance it can fool others, up close the
differences are obvious) and interface with electronic devices and be a wiz
with gadgets. However he struggles with basic human emotions, to not go off
onto various extremes.
Natch all three have heightened strength and endurance with Fifth being the
strongest and toughest, Adria arguably the most dangerous, tho Michael is
the leader because he's their best strategist.

Why don't you like this moving tale of redemption?

I wish. Just demonstrations that more is possible. They don't have to be
these grand galaxy-spanning stories but smaller more personal stories,
focusing on a planet, a station, individuals.

Are you saying that Jerry Orbach's character of Lennie Briscoe had bad

"What do you mean there's no movie?"
The SGPD would be whole other spin-off (well, more SG:COMMAND).
Plus Michael and company would be in the Pegasus galaxy.

Hey, you're reading my mind, except I wanted to start it about two or
three years *before* revealing the program, during which it slowly gets
revealed, on purpose, by the international committee, who's taken the
Stargate over.
Basically by pretending to invent all the technology, at least until
the big reveal.
And your idea adds years to the show!

My email address needs to have the left-hand side replaced with my
first name
Actually the great trinity of tv shows are cop, doc, and lawyer shows:
1) Cop: Cop, detectives, agents, heroes, etc.
2) Doc: Doctor, paramedic, nurse, med students, etc.
3) Lawyer: Lawyer, judge, politician, etc.
SG:MICHAEL would already be more in 1st "cop" genre. As a "hero" he would be
helping the helpless, while finding his place in the universe.

And I'd have to pull my tongue out of my cheek to really discuss this with
you.
Meanwhile, haveagoodun.
How about
STARGATE: CORUSCIS
Atlantis wasn't the only Ancient city on Earth. There was another,
Coruscis,
which was once in the Pacific Ocean, before it launched off to a galaxy
"far
far away..." (hmm...) It inspired the legend of Mu (lost sunken
continent in
the Pacific). Coruscis, like Atlantis, is discovered by the SGC team,
and a
new expedition is put together. This time, a far richer and more
diverse
galaxy is discovered on the other end (Hmm... getting it yet?). In
addition,
Coruscis has all 3 ZPMs functioning. In fact they can take it out and
get it
to fly.
Unlike SG1 and Atlantis there would be no single enemy the team would
have
to fight. Instead they would simply go to various worlds, discover
things, and
make new friends and enemies. Some of those enemies would be defeated
in the same episode they're discovered in, and some would stick around
a
little longer.
Of course there needs to be something in the background -- it would be
their relationship with the Galactic civilization they discovered...
(HMM!)
Oh, and said Galactic civilization is descended from the Ancients of
course, and they've got similar Ancient-level technology as well.

"Coruscis"? I've got nothing coming up online. There's a reference for "Mu"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu_%28lost_continent%29
but no "Coruscis". But try this on for size:
STARGATE: SHANGRI-LA.
More people would "get it". Plus it would have different connotations than
Atlantis, which is more scientific / technical, while Shangri-La has more
mystical / spiritual connotations.
It could lead to ... the LAST City of the Ancients--before they ascended.
There they will begin the biggest journey--inward. Yadda, yadda, yadda, the
practical effect would be tapping into humanity's potential, physical and
mental, aka superpowers. Of course with superpower comes ... (anyone?
anyone?) great responsibility? WRONG! Well, yeah, but more often and more
likely supertemptation and supercorruption.
After all, why would the Last City of the Alterans have ... prisons?
That question is answered AFTER the gates ... are UNLOCKED!
Yes, even in Paradise, there are some snakes--or were. That becomes their
overarching mission, between an inward journey, to realize their potential,
as well as encounters with those who have "transcended", beginning their
journey toward ascenscion, they also have to deal with a ... prison break.
-- Ken from Chicago
Oh dear that is goofy. Anyway, Stargate Coruscis, like I said, would be
based on the legend of Mu instead of Atlantis. Just because it's called
"Coruscis" doesn't mean it could not have inspired the legend, take a
look at how the names of Castiana and Sahal (the two planets where the
Holy Grail was supposed to be) evolved -- the original Ancient words
were
"Taos Faclarush" and "Valus Cor". I think there is a legend in Hawaii
or
some other part of Polynesia about the Mu as a "floating island" --
sounds
like an Ancient cityship to me, and the Stargate explanation of course
would be that it IS an Ancient cityship. Maybe Mu could be the name of
the *planet* Coruscis is on, instead of naming the planet "Coruscis"
after
the city. As to what the planet of Mu would be like I don't know yet.
Anyway, the Ancients in that far-far-away galaxy did not die out, but
their
civilization changed, and evolved until it didn't really resemble
original
"Ancient" civilization anymore. It would NOT have been wiped out by
some
sort of evil enemy, just evolved away from it's roots. The Coruscis
galaxy would not be a dead dwarf galaxy like Peagsus though, it would
be a large galaxy and would have it's own native life, so there would
be
more opportunities to see more exotic "alien" lifeforms as well as the
humanoid Ancient descendants. Perhaps the Andromeda galaxy could
be a candidate (and it would put Coruscis/Mu somewhat near Atlantis --
isn't Pegasus a satellite galaxy of Andromeda?).
The really "different" thing here is that Stargate Coruscis would not
have a
single enemy, like I said (unlike SG:Atlantis and SG1 where there is
only
one arch-emeny like the Goa'uld, Ori, and Wraith). There's no
arch-villain
per se, but the "SGC" (Stargate Coruscis not just Stargate Command)
team's
relationships with the various powers in the galaxy would provide the
potential for conflicts, drama, etc. while the ultimate secret of
Coruscis
and the Galaxy is discovered. Perhaps something like your "Shangri-La"
idea could be incorporated into it somehow, as well. Maybe that's the
"ultimate" secret of Coruscis.

>> Oh dear that is goofy. Anyway, Stargate Coruscis, like I said, would be
STARGATE KORUSCIS just to have SGK abbreviation that avoids the confusion
with SGC. Yes, it would be nice to not have one overarching villain but lots
of minor ones.
And EXPLORING. I would only add arcs to save costs on having to build new
sets and costumes and props every week.

Therein lies the path to the dark side, throw the writers a reset
button and next thing you know, you've got "Stargate: Voyager."
Wayland
...this space for rent.
Precisely. Arcs give a chance for CONSEQUENCES. Altho since any world they
gate to can show right back up on their doorstep, SG had a big advantage
over ST.
-- Ken from Chicago
Hee hee hee! Stargate "K"oruscis How about Stargate "K"ourus"k"is (TWO
Ks
instead of one)???? Funny! (ROLLS AROUND GIGGLING) And you don't write
SGC you would write SG:C, by the way. Also, people could tell from
context
whether one is referring to Stargate Command OR Stargate: Coruscis. I
prefer the "Coruscis" spelling.
Yep.
