Plot idea: A substance or virus gets aboard the Destiny. It acts on the
crew members' brains like alcohol, loosening their inhibitions and
clouding their judgments. For example, Everett Young's attraction to TJ
(hinted at in a dream he had) comes boiling to the surface, and he goes
panting after her. Her inhibitions are also loosened, so she responds
to his advances and they make wild love!:) Eli also goes panting after
Chloe, possibly leading to an Eli/Scott fight over Chloe. Scott might
go panting after Lt. Smith. Greer beats up several people. If Rush has
returned to the Destiny by this time, Young beats him up again.

Eli comments on the resemblance of this situation to the events in the
Classic Trek episode "The Naked Time".

...Especially when Camille goes topless and starts swinging a sword around.
It's practically meta.

I missed the episode which established Camille's interest in medieval weapons.

They don't need a virus. It won't be

No need to come up with such elaborate scenarios. You've got a bunch
of very clever people, some military people - all bored and scared -
various dodgy foodstuffs found on alien planets that may be *edible*
but taste awful. How long before Eli and Greer build a still to turn
"sweet potatoes" into local hooch?

But not everyone would get drunk in that scenario, reducing the impact.

If you wanted to avoid copying The Naked Time too closely, you could
have some celebration where nearly everyone does drink, the twist would
be that you don't sober up.

Or the "alien booze" contains some compound that inhibits the enzymes that
break down alcohol, keeping everyone drunker longer without having to drink
as much.

Scott being raised by a priest may bring up some interesting options to
the triangle.

[Default] Thus spake Jette Goldie <jgold...@btinternet.com>:

Given the abilities of humanity, and navies in particular, to "brew
up" something, I'm guessing 1x12 or 13. Given his spotty record, I
suspect Greer has more technical ability in this matter than Eli. And
don't they have at least one chemist on board? An organic chemist,
IIRC. Organic chemists can do interesting things with rye mold.
