BubbaGump
mass suicide (wondered where they'd been all this time not helping
with the threat of the Ori). I hope this was the final, final,
finale. SG-1's been sucking a little way back since Daniel first
left, but the last couple seasons with the Ori have been horrible.
Colonel O'Neil was gone. That sucked because his cynical comments
bouncing off Daniel and Carter were what made the show good. Colonel
Mitchel is less interesting than the minor characters who only appear
once every few episodes.
Vala was forced on the show, and she was only entertaining in what
should have been her only episode (when she hijacked the Prometheus).
The Gu'ald stopped talking in their cool evil voices, which made their
personalities as impotent as their control of the galaxy.
The Ori are boring. They sit in their lofty towers sending stupid
puppets to mindlessly repeat their philosophy. The Gu'ald were the
best kind of bad guys, the unabashedly power-hungry kind, not trying
to hide behind falsely noble intentions.
A few of the episodes during the Ori seasons have suffered from poor
acting and poor timing (maybe from poor directing) and boring plots.
I wish the Lucian Alliance had been blown up. They are boring.

So, what happened to Hermiad, who helps fly the Daedalus back and
forth to Atlantis? Did he jump off to go kill himself too, leaving
some inferior human to do his job?

Me too. I didn't even watch the last episode - the show has changed into
something I don't even recognze any more. True, actors will come and go,
but introducing the Ori and cutting down the Goa'uld was when SG-1 jumped
the shark.

Is O'Neil dead? That would explain his failure to be invited to the
Asgard farewell party.

Continue the successful formula from the first 7 seasons. So, RDA wants
out. See if he will agree to cameo in a few eps a year, like they did with
Shanks, and ascend him. DON'T bite the panic bullet, as they obviously did.
The last three seasons, SG-1 has been nothing but a shill for Atlantis. I
detest Atlantis, and refuse to watch it. I know they are trying to extend
their run, but this is as bad as Star Trek - Enterprise. When the formula
fails and the ratings are abysmal, make the female Vulcan into a sex
object.
Stargate is over. It's like the Simpsons, who hit the wall after Season 9,
so it reinvented itself to appeal to a new group of fans who will never
understand why the original series was so far ahead of it. They went for
the lowest common denominator.

assume he still had a pulse. Colonel O'Neil on the other hand hasn't
been heard from since the original Stargate movie in 1994.

So why are you guys in this group? Why not go to whatever new shows
you are interested in? The rest of us find something about it... I

it go... I dont think Atlatis has hit its prime yet, but Im nto about
to jump ship unless something really messed up happens to the

I didn't see anybody tearing it down - I saw people who were fans of the
original show PO'd at the final result, and at what SG-1 became. If they
weren't fans of the show, they wouldn't have wasted the time.
I am a fan of SG-1 through season 7. In season 8, when they lost RDA,
instead of sticking to the original premise (actors move on, after all)
they chose to begin changing the entire framework of the series. Maybe it
was panic, maybe it was to gracefully put SG-1 to bed, and to begin the
transition to Atlantis.
I don't care what their motives were; at that point, SG-1 began going
down hill. That doesn't mean there weren't good episodes produced after
that point, but it began to morph into a different show. SG-1 did not
need the Ori - Atlantis did. The Goa'uld did not have to perish except
that Atlantis needed a "bigger and better" enemy to fight. A lot of us
really liked the ancient feel of the show, and did not like the attempt
to take it intra-galactic. And a lot of us were really pissed at the
demise of the Asgard. To refute one of your statements: the whole theory
DID change, but slowly.
Also, this is not a fan based site - it is Usenet, which is a long
established form of computer communication going back to the early 1980s.
Usenet is about free speech and always has been. It seems to me that you
don't understand what your are posting to - and after looking at your
header, I see why. Google Grouper. You have no idea what Usenet is. You
think this is some kind of Google Group established by a fan. The fact
that Google has acquired rights to reproduce this medium is an
abomination in itself.

I have always thought that the only drink allowed to call itself cognac is
the one from the Cognac region. The rest is simply brandy. BTW, bourbon is

I am older and I realize that although the right to dissent is
fundamental to modern parliamentary democracies, it is not a right in
every instance. What you term right to dissent I refer to as bilious
critic syndrome. It is not intelligent discourse to simply annoy with
a contrary opinion. You may *think* it is your right but it is not.
Your right is one of the freedom to express a political opinion, not
just any opinion. For example, if you believe your argument, I could
go into your house and criticize your choice of clothing and wall
decorations, whereas you would certainly feel that this was not
appropriate (although you may claim as a mechanism of self-defense that
you would welcome it). In the same vein, you might feel it is
inappropriate for anti-semites to walk into a synagogue and disrupt the
sabbat. Or you might feel that it is.
Personal opinion notwithstanding, it is bad net manners to go to a fan
site or discussion group and simply dump. And what you call the
"American" way only applies to the population of the US which is, truth
be told, less than 7% of the population of this planet. That means
that for each one of you, there are 16 others who may beg to differ.
As you value democratic principles as a nation and abide by the rule of
the majority, just keep in mind that unless you behave, your ass is
grass :-)

I'm saying America *can* be great. There are some aspects which may not be,

Maybe. Although, with Magda living in Europe, it was not unreasonable to

offence or might think you are Flipper Mike... Why would you want to call

Someone had to invent it.
If not for us, you wouldn't have had countless things which, technologically
let to the internet. You might think you lot invented the atomic bomb for
example... But it was a Scot who invented one of the vital pieces of
equipment that led to the discovery of nuclear fission.

And without the threat of the bomb, the arpanet wasn't neccesary.
(That was the whole point, a redundant reroutable unknockoutable information
dissemination and communication system)

No, I had a rum coffee (hot rum poured over ground coffee, no water) but not

The right to dissent is a free society's right. I didn't realize that you
were so sensitive to the usage of the "American way". It's just a term used
to describe a free people and their rights. I didn't realize I was speaking
to an international audience. So let me rephrase..... It's the right we have
to complain about SG-1, that may help to make it better. does that answer
