Maybe the ship itself is an actual stargate and can dial itself to any
address (once someone figures it out).
Or the chevrons were designed to look like the ship.

well whats interesting is that the SG-1 chevrons are different. The SGU
chevrons are much more rounded and match the general shape of "Destiny"
(or Destiny matches the chevron), I have a feeling that this was
purposeful and its reason will be revealed. Again I suspect that the
entire ship will be revealed as a stargate, capable of moving between
galaxies through its own wormhole... or...
... Maybe there were other "Destiny" type ships, and when 10 of them
link up together nose to nose, they form a "supergate".
Or you get 9 ships in a circle for a super duper gate, or weapon.

Exactly what I was thinking in another part of this thread. Each ship
is a chevron in a massive supergate- capable of getting them home.
