Chloe: Sex with Scott in "Light", has behaved romantically with Eli in
past two episodes.
Scott: Sex with Chloe in "Light", almost sex with a soldier in "Air
Part 1", flashback of telling his priest about his 16 year old
girlfriend in "Air Part 3".
Young: Married to one Emily, but that romance appears to be over.
Emily is mad at him for taking actions that risked rendering him
unable to return to her. Evidently, she thinks he had no business
being at the Icarus base in the 1ST place! Could Young have requested
a posting at Earth to be with his wife?
No she didn't. She's been FRIENDLY toward Eli. Not romantic.

Tim, we need to talk about the birds and the bees. "Almost" sex??
C'mon. They just didn't get to finish. It still counts as 'sex'.

Pencil pushing? Don't see Colonel Young happy with that kind of life--he
needs military adrenaline, IMO.
But shouldn't he consider his relationship with his wife to be at
least as important as his need for military adrenaline? I figure that
that's the point Emily was trying to make.
BTW, Google does not support posting to alt.stargate-universe
Young was crying over his wedding ring--I think it's as important to
him. But she's only one person--lots of other people depend upon him as
a commander, and that's the bigger draw for a military man (or woman,
which is why you'll see military women who've recently had babies
heading off to Iraq, etc.).
>
> BTW, Google does not support posting to alt.stargate-universe
Saw that. Any idea why?
She married a military man. When you marry someone in that line of
work you have to accept what they do and that they're most likely not
going to be working office hours and coming home for dinner every night.

Was he deciding to take it off as a symbol of his decision to end his
marriage so that he can concentrate on saving the crew of the Destiny?
In a last ditch effort to save his marriage, I suggest that Young
invite Emily to come to Destiny via communications stone so that she
can SEE how much he's needed on the Destiny.
Plot Twist: A stone malfunction traps Emily on board Destiny in the
body of Chloe, that medic, or that IOA chick.:)
I bet that for some time, she had been pressuring Young to resign his
commission so that he could spend more time with her!
Because Google has not allowed an SGU newsgroup in their set up yet.
but sometimes it isn't that easy. Just because someone wants to
"quit", doesn't mean they can. If the country is in a state of war,
retirements, separations from service, are denied.
I'm presuming since Sam was fighting the Lucian's that there is still
a state of war.
If I thought I only had a day to live, I'd have sex with whatever
female was willing. There has to be a first time for everything.
I don't think he took it off for any conscious reason, he was just
holding it reverently and grieving over what he had lost.

This is actually a nice idea, Tim!! :-O

Too predictable. Let her visit, let her make up with Young (but they
can't make up physically, it would be unethical) and let that give Young
more angst, but in a positive way that makes him more determined to get
himself and his people home, safe and sound.
Google is the archive for ALL USENET groups, is it not?
I don't have a lot of info about how this works, are the various
servers only making an individual SGU group on their servers, or is
there one big
SGU group that all the servers attach to?
I'd always thought it was, but when someone tries to post to the SGU
group from Google, it won't allow the post to go through <shrug>.
That's Google for ya, a pita.
It may have to do with how many providers start to carry it? I know
that the supernatural group isn't on Google either (or wasn't the last
time I forgot to snip it out of the 'to' line).
The Situation: Young is in Telford's body on Earth, and Telford is in
Young's body on Destiny. What happens if one of those bodies dies?
Drawing a blank here, but didn't that happen to Daniel and Vala when
their 'hosts' were executed by the Ori? IIRC, they bounced back to
their own bodies, didn't they?
Virgin alarm!
Well Vala was executed by the towns folks but brought back by a Pryor, with
her mind still in that body.
I would guess that if the body died (and stayed dead) the mind occupying it
would die with it.
I think he meant the "willing" part would be a first. :O
--
DJensen
Weren't they in comas at the time? So no one was actually _using_
their bodies when the other body was killed. I'm not sure if Vala
was in a coma but I thought Daniel was (clearly, I paid much more
attention to _him_ than her *grin*)

Come on, be nice. The poster did say 'with whatever female WAS
WILLING' (emphasis added by me) That shows some level of maturity.
That's why I said "Virgin alarm!" and not "Rapist alarm!"
Not according to him (or nerds of the world)
This would by why nerds don't tend to get girlfriends
Which is why they engineered the global warming to wipe them all out!
She has certainly led him on:
1) Hand-holding.
2) The shower scene - where she cried out for him.
3) Watching the star together in "Light."
All of that is "more than just friendship."
Granted, not even a kiss, but she's definently playing Eli.
However, turnabout is fair play: Maybe 2nd Lt. James will nail Eli for
revenge of "the broom closet." Note how they were looking at each other in
"Light" when the Col. Young announced the lottery. Some may say maybe it
was just the "keep me informed" look. We'll see....
Nope. Only in a stalker's eyes would their relationship be called
anything but platonic.
> 1) Hand-holding.
Out of fear. They ARE in a scary situation, you know, and she just
watched her father DIE.
> 2) The shower scene - where she cried out for him.
Again, out of fear. Darkness on a big scary alien ship? Scary.
Darkness while standing there naked? More scary.
> 3) Watching the star together in "Light."
Just friendship, marveling at the beauty of the images outside the ship
and what they were beholding. There was no sexual context to it at all.
> All of that is "more than just friendship."
Nope. From the start Chloe has not been leading Eli on in a sexual way.
She's relying on him for strength and friendship in a platonic way. He's
realizing however due to circumstances that here on this ship, in this
time, he may just have a chance with the senator's daughter...UNTIL he
realizes
that she's bonded with Matt in a sexual context. Since Eli is protective
of Chloe, he therefore shows
some snippishness and jealousy (as did the female soldier, forgot her
name)--there's quite a few women in the group, I suspect Eli will find
SOMEONE the same way Rodney eventually did on Atlantis, who doesn't mind
his nerdiness or math-boyishness. :-)
>
> Granted, not even a kiss, but she's definently playing Eli.
Nope. Chloe doesn't strike me as a player. Lady Soldier, yes maybe. But
not Chloe. She seems pretty innocent emotionally to me.
Mere friends don't hold hands. People with relationships do.

Again, you're clueless. It's not that she did; it's HOW she did it.

So her placement of her head on his shoulder (when they were at the railing
after Dr. Rush left, having just explained what he thought the destruction
would be like), was just friendship? Again, you're clueless.
Have YOU ever had a relationship with the opposite sex?

Your explanations don't hold water. Those actions do not add up to a
platonic situation.
I'm thinking you don't understand exactly what 'friends' are--to most
people it IS a relationship--I'm puzzled, what are 'friends' to you?
Acquaintances only?

I've rewatched it twice. She was scared. He was there. If it had been
Matt, she would have called out to him. If it had been her dad, she
would have called the same way. It wasn't a sexual call by any means,
LOL. More of a WTH?!? call.

Again, methinks YOU are the clueless one. It was a peaceful moment,
something Chloe and the others hadn't had in some pretty high tension,
anxious, terrifying hours. The girl relaxed, she wasn't hitting on Eli,
for goodness' sakes. Friends DO rest their heads on one another's
shoulders, if they are looking for comfort.
If she HAD been hitting on Eli, don't you think she'd have been pulling
him off to some quiet area (like she and Matt did) where they could get
nekkid and do the bo-dee-oh-doe?! Who would have cared if she was a slut
going from one man to another?? No one. BUT SHE DIDN'T. She doesn't have
a sexual interest in Eli. It's pretty obvious, even to him now that he's
seen her go off with Matt and reading their body language of what they
were going to do.

They can do - unless you're the sort of guy that doesn't understand
the word "platonic" or when a woman tells you "I just want to be friends".
You know, the kind of man that young women need to be warned about.
Friendship is NOT a relationship. Look it up in a dictionary.
A [personal] relationship is a connection by blood or legal device
(marriage, adoption, etc.), and coloquially includes situations leading to
the latter (e.g. dating).
Figures that you'd need a memo for it to be explained to you.
It's clear that the medic-patient situation prevailed. However, I suspect
that there might have been something between them (thus also explaining his
[ex-]wife's view back on Earth beyond that of simply putting the job
first). They might not be in a relationship now, but I suspect there's
some dirty laundry between them in their past (that has yet to be
revealed).
In psychology, it is well known that there are women who take the "teddy
bear" type for their LTRs, but cheat by having flings with the most
masculine jock-types they can find. It's clear that the Chloe+Matt(LT
Scott)+Eli triangle is one of these. Why else would LT Scott be banging LT
James in the first scene we find him in (on the Icarus Base planet) and
"instantly" switch to Chloe without any regrets or remorse. Clearly LT
James has a different view on that - with the "broom closet" comment.
Despite his other skills, LT Scott is a user of women and a scumbag. Given
3 more episodes, LT Scott will be banging someone else. LT James figured
that out about Scott. Notice that there've been a lack of scenes of them
interacting since arriving on Destiny, except for him pointing at her in
the Shuttle in "Light" to guard the door.
[me backs up slowly, smiling and looking right and left for the exits]
Don't make me bring out my "Does your mom mind you using the basement
all the time instead of getting a real job?" retort! ;-)
You HAVE noticed that the Icarus group is going through some pretty
unusual situations, so reactions are likely to be...UNUSUAL for these
peoples' usual behavior?
That is, they aren't acting the way they normally would act. Lt. Scott
may stay faithful to Chloe for the rest of their lives if they remain
trapped on Destiny forever...just because he's a man doesn't mean he's
a lowlife cad.
Just out of curiosity's sake, may I ask what gender are you? Your
remarks might make more sense to me and others if we knew where you are
coming from.
Only a serial killer would write that.
> > All of that is "more than just friendship."

Except he doesn't see it that way (nor do a lot of the viewers)

Yes (isn't this fun)

Pretty stupid yeah. Alas she won't be spaced anytime soon.
Perhaps its an age thing. Younger generations think fondling all over is
just friendly. Older generations think that means something.

I think this is a gender thing, more than an age thing (though age may
play into it).
I just asked my husband... He said that he thought she was "sort of
playing Eli, yeah, I think she was". Women seem to think that Chloe
wasn't playing Eli.
I can see why someone would think she was leading him on (D.Stussy
made good points), and I can see where someone would say she wasn't
(who and Jette made good points).
She was totally playing him! :)

Lol... Most men don't hold hands even if scared and even though they may
be good friends. Heck, even women don't. If I was in a scary situation,
I doubt my first thought would be to grab a friend's hand. Now a lover,
yes, I'd grab his.

Heh, well, resting your head on someone's shoulder is slightly intimate.
A guy (especially Eli) might think there's more to it than there really
is. Since Chloe had sex so easily and quickly with the military guy
(can't think of his name), it seems to me that she is a touchy/feely type
who is not shy to touch people. Most people wouldn't do that I don't
think. Even under those circumstances, I wouldn't rest my head on
someone's shoulder unless I was involved with them and I'm a girl. I
doubt a guy would, period.

Whoa, I should take Whodunit out of my killfile because this is

They do here - they also link arms when shopping or going out
night-clubbing. In the first case so they don't lose each other in a
crowded store and in the second so they can all stay upright when
three sheets to the wind.
But oddly we don't hug random semi-acquaintances on first meeting like
my US 'net buddies do.

Well we don't here. At least I've never done or seen it done. Mind you
if we're all snickered, then maybe we'll need a little help along the
way.......<g>

M.E. Lee?? One of your Koreans?
Neither do I! The original film was great. The sequels are all very well
explained by Mel Brooks' comment in his film Spaceballs when he played the
midget in charge of merchandising and had in stock a cassette called
"Spaceballs II - The Search for More Money"!

Well, tonight they kissed, and it wasn't a "thank you kiss" either.
Now, what was that about not leading him on?

She does now! OK, so they're not in bed yet, but it's headed that way.

Tonight also seemed to prove that they do have a past - and the [ex-]wife
at home knew about it too.

Update: During a communications stone visit to Earth, Young has reconciled
with Emily with a vengeance! They made love! During the sex act, Telford
and Young switched back to their proper bodies for a few seconds when
Destiny dropped out of FTL, causing the communications stones to glitch!
Telford therefore found himself in bed with Emily! Fortunately, the
stones soon resumed operation, allowing Young to complete the ACT!
While Young and Emily were drinking in bed after sex, Destiny jumped back
into FTL, and the stones glitched again.
A drunken Chloe seemed to be trying to seduce Eli! I'm surprised that she
would be drinking, considering how disturbed she seemed to be when she saw
her Mom drinking in "Air, Part 3".

At the episode's start, Young has a flashback to being involved with the woman
who is now Destiny's medic.
Possible future plots: Emily is found to be pregnant with Telford's child!
Emily decides she wants to boink TELFORD, as opposed to Young in Telford's
body!
Who what? Eli and Chloe? That was Eli imagining it - the jump cut was
supposed to underline that.

Indeed - no wonder the wife is pissed "You had to go and get lost in
another galaxy with that slut!" *g*
Except, by the shake of Eli's head, you realized that it hadn't
actually happened, it was in his imagination.
She was trying to seduce Eli! My G*d!!!

Chloe has an exboyfriend named Josh, who is currently dating her best
friend.
At the party, Eli danced with Chloe and later with a hot gal who wrote
her e-mail address on his hand.
I would have thought she'd have seen him dancing with her eyes.

You will be glad to know that Emily already knows (as revealed in the episode
Earth). Telford may have told her.
No. He's Timming you, Josh!

But Emily should not be expected to accept Everett Young boinking a
medic named TJ!

Are you a virgin?
Life: Telford appears to be getting romantic with Young's wife Emily.
The two frequently eat meals and drink wine together, and he has been
providing emotional support.
Life: Scott looked up his former girlfriend (the one who was 16 when he
knew her) and learns that he gave her a child! Later, he makes love to
Chloe again.
SyFy ad for future SGU episodes: Young and TJ kiss.
Here's my spoiler. This pathetic show will be soon cancelled and Tim
Bruening will have to go and watch some other soap operas.
