Jack In The Box fast food restaurant is not big in the East yet, it only
recently opened in North Carolina and Tennessee (Mic?). But it's big in the
West (Wave?) and Pacific Coast and I'm in love with their Cappuccino
Milkshake I just had yesterday. Now I can spend a few hundred dollars less
per year on Starbucks and concentrate on this wonderful cheap shake.

First it was Jack In The Box's Regular Taco, then the Monster Taco (formerly
Super Taco) that I have revered over the last decade. How, do you ask, do I
look so young for being in my mid forties after eating such junk all these
years? Is it genetics or is it Dove soap (which is what I have washed my
face with for the last decade)? Thank you, Lever Brothers, for giving me
the baby face I so deserve.

But still One now and One forever.
Lever Brothers makes Dove soap, btw.
I'll look you up every now and then, Shammie, after I'm famous. -)

Baby face? Are you sure you haven't had any work done? If so, send me the
number of your surgeon.
I'd love to see what Jack has done to the inner walls of your arteries.

Dude, I used to eat at Jack In The Box all of the time when I lived on the
East Coast (NY). Since I moved out to the West, I've never even seen one.
IIRC, they had a really good breaded chicken sandwich. We used to have quite
a few Roy Rogers (best damn fried chicken in the bidness) also, but then
they sort of disappeared after getting taken over by Hardees.

Ugh. No offense, but I can't see drinking anything remotely related to
coffee, cold. Which is odd, because I like Iced Tea.

Yeah, I seem to recall they had good tacos as well.

As I am fast approaching 40, I have made a mental note of that. Hopefully,
by the time that I actually do reach 40 I won't have forgotten it. <g>

I hate to admit I feel like a sucker having read the Jack In The Box website
a few hours ago. No wonder they left out that they were once spread
throughout the East, or maybe it was buried in 10 pages deep. What a
glaring omission. They can't face up to the explanation of why they pulled
out, whatever it was.

Their site left out all that and the part about them being in New York in
the past, unless it was on some obsure, hard to find page. They must have
been afraid to go into the reasons for their retreat from the East Coast all
those years ago.

Frings may have had a name change. Curly Fries have been on the menu for a
number of years now - French Fries all curled up to look like onion rings,
but no real onions in them.

Their tacos may taste good, but the greasy beef in them may not be so
wholesome. There is at least one item on the menu, Chicken Pita Pocket,
that nutritional experts claim is healthy for you. I haven't found that
claim on the Web yet, though.

I doubt it <g>. Just something I remember from the dim recesses of my
memory. Though I swear I heard the term Sliders in an ad once, but maybe
I'm just getting foggy. I doubt if the slogan "They slide on through with
hardly a stop along the way" would be the best way to go. They taste great
(imo), you just have to pay a heavy price later on that day, or hour
actually.

I honestly didn't know they had closed down. I'm not terribly surprised,
though. The fast food business was different in the '70s.

Yes, decaf is nasty as hell. IMO. It destroys two of the more important
facets of coffee. Namely, caffeine and taste. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln,
how did you like the play? <g>

I used to love to do "taco shots" at 3 AM with my friends. Basically, you
down a thing of taco sauce and then jam a whole taco in your mouth. Did I
mention that I suffer from stomach problems?

Heck, no. Neither is the name "Belly Bombers", but that's often what
they are called.

They're tiny little burgers. Get a sack of 10, because that probably
equals one decent cheeseburger. (in mass only) But don't plan on
going anywhere for a while. You need to stay close to porcelain, as
you'll be back to your original weight in no time at all.. (if you

When I was a kid I could eat a sackful with no problem at all. Adults just
can't handle them. I still think they taste great taken in extreme
moderation. Of course, it's been years since I had any because they ain't
here in TX.

I actually look up people's stuff there sometimes. I didn't this time, but
I noticed the post by Shammie about how the appearance and placement of
Picard and Riker looks so real in her Christmas card.

Actually, the credit for that goes to her. That work was all done
before I even saw the picture. I just cleaned up some lines and glare
before making it into a greeting card.

..and where would that be located?

Well, when I lived in the US, in the 70's, we had Jack in the Box around
and we lived in the East, I can't remember what states the Jack in the
Box's were in, but at a guess I'd say Virginia, Maryland and even
perhaps Pennsylvania.

Sounds like you go back a more than a few years, like me. I guess they had
