Those that frequent chat are individuals, just like those who make up the
ng's. If you were to come and I were there, I would welcome you, but that's
me. I have no problem with anyone coming to chat as long as they showed
common courtesy. If people came in there just to attack and disrupt, then I
would in that case ask them to go somewhere else. If you find that attitude
discrimitory, then so be it.

If you google 'the truth about IRC' (I think that's what I called it), you'll
see that I said *all* are welcome, if they can leave NG issues behind. This
creature, as well as Kal El Fan continued to rag on us, without even trying
the channel out.

They don't get that the channel is separate from and not related to the NGs
directly - yes, the name of it refers to the NG, but only so people would
have a familiar acronym, as well as the fact that it's only announced on the
NGs. Sorry, but other Trek boards scare me!

Sheesh!

It wouldn't matter what you called it. It wouldn't matter where it was.
Laura Goodwin has a paranoid fixiation on a certain group of people.
It borders an obsessive hatred, which is sad. Things had been relatively
quiet in her regards until Ent ended for the season and she began taunting
the chat announcements again. She believes herself to be clever so she's
angling for more ways to TOS people. What she doesn't realize is her host
information is readily available and since she uses them as her email client
it's very conceivable people will begin to TOS her to that provider.
Why she wants it to deteroriate to that, I have no idea. She just can't
let it go.

I would personally like to see you show up in the IRC forum.
I would be curious to see whether your real-time thought processes are
as disarrayed and disorganized as I believe they are. Not to mention
it would be rather comical to watch you respond to yourself. As you
routinely do here..

Humans by nature disciminate. This is why we build
communities (in it's best use of the term) or cliques (in its worst
use of the term). However, I believe the concept you're attempting to
alude to is PREJUDICE.

Let's take for example your complaints about and your rallying
to TOS anyone that mentions IRC chat here, and yet, in all the years
of it being mentioned, you have never once shown up there to prove
that there is actually any prejudice going on against you.
By not showing up and proving that there is prejudice going on
against you, you deny IRC out of hand, in the very same prejudice you
accuse others of doing against you.

Now, your point being is, what again?

One year ago, we had Ruffinelli and his LawSOOT. We had
Princess Paolo "Pizzle" and his tyrannical "you all hate the Italians"
rants. We had Sean Caroll and his kook-moment about the use of the
word 'faggy' in "Are you Euro". While this Caecina rates as a troll,
she is as good a troll as StarKitty (AKA Shittykitty) and her posts
from years gone by that Clinton is a Communist.

Laura, then what the HELL is your beef?
You don't want to come to chat? Here's the simple solution.
DON'T. But chat IS open and most people enjoy the conversation
and giggles. But hey, if you'd rather whine like a small child over
something you're not even a part of. Have at it. Don't you worry about
your dom image tho? You're surely not acting like someone in control
of herself much less anyone else.

Wrong. The IRC chat *is* open to all. As far as being welcomed goes,
you will (just as in usenet and parts of real life) be shown as much
respect as you show others. Of course, you *do* tend to pitch a bitch
about being given that much respect- such is life, on and off-line.

Many of us enjoy chat- the fact that we're still doing it should be a
huge honking kloo. You are quite free to moan and whine about the
announcements, or to skip the threads and go on to something you're
more interested in, or even to grow the fuck up already and learn to
act like an adult with people you can't dominate or control. I can

: Well, I for one wouldn't welcome her. Yes, I would discriminate against
: her. Chat should NOT be open to all. I'm like that, I discriminate
: against kooks, trolls, jerks and nutcases. The solution is simple: don't
: act like a kook, troll, jerk and/or nutcase. But of course, that's too
: easy for some people to understand.

So Laura is welcome then? She's none of the above.

Chat is for friendly discussion only.
Those who can't adhere to that, no matter who they are,

Actually sir (a term I will use loosely, having read some of your posts I'm
not sure it really applies here but I do like to give the benefit of the
doubt) I hold a degree of Master Science of Nursing, with a specialty in
psychology. I have worked in this field for 30 years. I was just suggesting
to TPM that she may need some assistance from the mental health community.
I was/am genuinely worried about TPM's mental health. When one perceives
that there are many against them it does harm to ones mental health. If
this goes unchecked it can be irreversible down the road. I only had her
best interest at heart. Which obviously you do not!

Not true Brad, the doll has imposed a blanket truce in the chat room,
when she is not there the rest of us (andthe chat server owners) also
enforce that truce to an almost religious degree. Any who can not
maintain a sence of decorum (of course a *little* light hearted ribbing
goes on) are first warned, then kicked, then banned for the first - through
third offence(s) respectively, even then wickeddoll is open to appeals
from those who were banned, provided they are politely made.
This applies just as much to cabal as non-cabal.

To the best of my knowledge only one person is currently subject to
a permanent ban, (he knows precisely who he is), and even in this case
i honestly beleive that were he to sincerely apologise for his actions the
doll would probably consider readmitting him, though probably on a
probationary basis at first.

Lastly, despite claims to the contrary, chat is not the home of the
cabal, a reasonably large portion of cabal attend chat but we are not
actually the majority most of the time, the non existant cabal have our
own forum for cabal business. To clear up another misconception, while
troll hunting strategies are occasionally (rarely mind you) discussed, this
does not include TPM, if she is discussed at all the most common tude is
one of supreme indifference. Indeed theone occasion i can remember her
being discussed it was actually agreed that she is no idiot, that she can
be
quite inciteful even on occassion, the only negative assesment on that
occassion
was her refusal to accept that she is not the ultimate expert on everything,
and
of course the hamster comment with merrick, if is truely the advocate of
gay rights she claims to be then she knows that this was inexcusable on
any grounds, yet she evennow attempts to defend it

cheers

Hell no - ask anyone who goes there, I don't tolerate that shit. I see
enough of it here. I do not hesitate to warn, then kick, then ban, then
g-line those who can't keep the NG shit out of IRC. There are plenty of
folks who don't like others that come there, but know to zip it or put the
one they dislike on /ignore.

Absolutely - you have to prove that you're willing to let bygones be bygones,
as a certain chatter did recently, after being g-lined (Banned from the
network)

Yup - but apologies to those offended would be demanded

True - some of those considered 'cabalers' do come to IRC, but there are
those among that group who despise each other. Yet they know they cannot
express that in the channel.

Maybe Steve would, but I don't - nobody is allowed to harass someone in
channel - not Steve, not anyone.

Despise is such a strong word, Nat. But there are those of us who can't
play nicely together in the newsgroups who interact peacefully, if
guardedly, in Chat.
