I used to use that song in my elementary music classes.

Until I found out that the kids hated it. :)

You taught elementary school? My mom was a elementary school teacher
for thirty years.

I have lots of teachers in my family. My paternal grandma was a
teacher, my Dad taught college classes, my sister is a special ed
teacher, my sister-in-law is a teacher, and my son is teaching a
computer course to kids at a summer program this year.

I did it for two: a 4th/5th grade band. Fun, but personally unfulfilling,
which is why I went back to grad school.

If I'm allowed to count student teaching and internships, I've taught all
grades from Kindergarten through college age by now. Of them all, middle
school is my absolute favorite age to teach. They haven't developed the
aesthetic closed-midedness of most high-schoolers, have tons of energy and
motivation and for the most part are intellectually developed enough to do
some pretty sophistcated stuff when it comes to music.

Didn't they do 'Jaws' already in that second season episode?

What, you don't like little kids? Naw, it's OK I understand.
Elementary school is totally unglamorous.

Well, I could never speak their language. I think you have to have a
certain knack for making intellectual contact with a 9-year-old, and I just
aint got it.

Still am. Just finished two years teaching a middle school chorus. Most
fun I've ever had teaching, and the only reason I'm quitting that job is
because I'm moving my family to Philly in July.

Hey, "Keeper of the Purple Twilight"- what was that? An exhibition? We
require emotional content- do it again, this time, with meaning:

I think it was a either MTV or maybe an article in Rolling Stone 20 years+
ago that described the lead singer of Trio as having the breathtaking vocal
range of Henry Kissinger...

Even as much as I loathe Bill Gates and Microsoft there's a hilarious parody
of that Volkswagen commercial done back when it was current for some sort of
Windows promo. In it Gates and his big fat shadow Steve Ballmer drive around
and find a Sun computer on the curb instead of a chair, ride a few minutes,
realize it's stinky and put it out. I think it was made for one of those
computer shows like Comdex but I'm too lazy to Google for it.

That would be a blast- it's too bad Star Trek isn't a popular enough
mainstream show for Mazda to buy the rights to actually do that.
