I was trying to think of who is SNL's all-time best female
impersonator/impressionist. Any thoughts? I really can't remember
any former female cast members that had a wide variety of impressions.

I'd say Jan Hooks and Ana Gasteyer were most versatile with impressions.

Out of this cast, I love Amy and Rachel, but I don't see them as strong
impressionists. They each really only have one good one. Amy has Sharon
Osbourne and Rachel has / use to have Calista Flockhart.

Maya has the best impressions out of this cast.

Emily Prager! Don't you remember her impression of the Invisible Woman?

Mary Gross was pretty good. She did Mary Tyler Moore, Dr.Ruth, Alfalfa from
the Little Rascals to name some.

Probably Jan Hooks. There aren't really any female castmembers who
are Hartman/Carvey/Hammond-esque in terms of impressions.

Jan, Ana, and I'd add Nora Dunn to the list. Jane Curtain was pretty
good as well. Remember her take as Mrs. Hathaway in "The Bel-Arabs"?

I might even give a minor shout out to Mary Gross. I tend to favor
the forgotten underdogs.

ya think?? I can't remember one impression Maya's done that I'd
consider good (i.e., accurate). Her Donatella is sometimes funny but
not very accurate. Actually, I've been quite surprised by Amy's
abilities this season. Her Sharon Stone was amazing. Her Madonna is
great. I even liked her Hillary Clinton.

Jan Hooks is definately the best impersonator. Too bad she didn't get
much fame after SNL.

Jan Hooks had some great ones (Sinead, Buttafuoco, the televangelist lady).

Chero Oteri was no slouch either... Barabra Walters, Debbie Reynolds, etc.

Ana G. did the best Topless Martha Stewart of all, I think.

Jan Hooks. And this isn't just my opinion either, but cold, hard FACT!

My favorite Jan Hooks impersonation was when she played the typical
"actual customer" for the get-rich-quick scheme offered by Mike Myers
Asian businessman (the one with women on either side of him who said,
"Get a load of these babes - are they stacked or what?"). She had
that down, the Publishers Clearing House-type customer who was hired
to give her testimonial and did so by very obviously reading off cue
cards in a very robotic manner.

Christina Aguilera
Nelly Furtado
Macy Gray
Whitney Houston
Mya
Beyonce Knowles

All pretty accurate, and all singers too, weirdly enough. Maybe Maya
can only do impressions that include a musical element.

If she owned a chain of cheap Mexican restaurants, her name would be Taco
Bitch.

If she were a cat food, her name would be Fancy Bitch.... or perhaps Tender
Bitches.
