I have to say, I liked the movie. For me, it made up for a lot of
less-than-stellar episodes (which were that way because they were working on
the movie, maybe?).

Could be?

Personally, whilst I didn't hate the movie - nor have I had any desire
to see it again either.
Just because a TV show is/was great, doesn't translate to it being great
movie material. There is a particular comedic pace and style that makes
the Simpsons unique and I don't think you can do that successfully with
a movie length feature. Just IMHO.
