Mmm, OK. I wish there were more weight on Bart's disappointment of
Marge or, if it was supposed to be about his struggle for purpose,
then that instead. But Homer's worrying about being more bald was an
interesting diversion and I enjoyed the driving lesson subplot
somewhat.

DYN:
...Marge's license plate says "H1P70L" after the car crashes through
the wall? (1PHL07 often shows up these days - I thought more often on
Homer's car - but if it was a gag about the crash jumbling up the
letters too, that's kind of clever)
...the 30-second Justin Bieber warning was a bit early?

Previous episode stuff
7F06: Couch gag includes a failed jump over the gorge
HABF18: I guess it's a good thing no one was offering to teach Bart
drums
2F21: Wiggum being bribed with jeans reminiscent of this episode
2F01: Xenia calls Bart Bort
2F09: Patrick Stewart returns as a guest voice (though for a rather
different, if still bald, character)
2F14: Patty and Selma give this guy a limo driver's license (which
Homer had sought but not actually gotten from them)

Beginnings and endings
-Another episode with a bizarrely constructed opening (why we saw a
very basic sax solo between the blackboard and couch gag, with nothing
in between, I do not know). Also for what it's worth, for those not
watching live on Fox, there was a promo just before it, saying the
couch gag (Robot Chicken style) was sponsored by Subway, though the
connection is not at all clear.
-Another episode with Al Jean's credit starting just a little early
(also causing the rest of the credits to be white). Still no return of
the "next week" promo, but it always seems as if it's a looming
possibility.

"Hot Wheels" references two weeks in a row. Last week it was when Abe was convalescing in the basement.

"Interim Principal Of The Year" Award on Skinner's bookcase in his office.
Skinner has a signed picture of Richard Nixon in his office. Is he supposed to
be based on Anthony Perkins' character in Psycho, or Nixon? Nixon was about
as obsessive compulsive as Skinner.

"America's Most Tattooed Baby"
"Dune, Where's My Car?"

That was Flanders' dad in the Kwik-E-Mart, right?

Moe was in the Army. There is a picture of him on the wall in uniform. He is wearing an overseas cap, too.

Homer was wearing a Jughead hat at the N-Plant.
1. When was the last time he was at the N-Plant?
2. There was another "Archie" reference a long time ago. "Duh, and stay out of Riverdale".

Blue license plate with white lettering is pretty standard state and local government vehicle license plate. At least in Massachusetts.

BTW, when Homer is in the break room at the plant, there were THREE DONUTS in the donut box.

The counting started after the warning disappeared.

So, in other words, this had nothing to do with the previous episode.

Maybe they had a few seconds to fill?
Maybe they wanted it that way?
Maybe it doesn't matter?
