Gotta say the best part of the Ep was Blair's hat. GM looks exactly like a cocker spaniel. And the music was cool. And Deborah didn't have any particular chemistry with Jim, but she was one of the less obnoxious BOTW's. Still gotta say I hate Sam's practical joke. long hair and fireflares are not a good combination. But I liked the way Jim totally froze until he saw Blair was ok.

I can't believe Sam didn't get some kind of lecture about not letting personal feelings influence her work behavior...that was SO uncool to endanger somebody like that.

haven't gotten my tape of this ep from iffer yet (one more month until my apartment complex gets sci-fi!) but i do recall some memorable lines...this one had the "how's your beautiful wife?" "much better now that she's divorced me and moved to san francisco, thanks," exchange, right? and "she's cute -- in a pitbull sort of way", which is exactly how i was thinking of detective kate lockley from "angel" last night.
come to think of it, "angel" is shaping up into some nice crossover potential, isn't it?

Eh, this episode was okay. The only part I really liked was the Blair hat part and the weird looks Jim got when he mentioned Dr. Zogs sex wax. As for a Sentinel/Angel crossover, that works. Especially if it's slash. Angel/Doyle=yum. But then I'm biased.

Jim's reaction to the hat was fun. Of course, it was a pretty silly looking hat. An Angel/Sentinal crossover has possibilities - Jim would be driving himself crazy trying to figure out why there was no heartbeat when he was around Angel (I expect some denial of the concept of vampires) and Blair would just be plain facinated. t'heck with angel. jim would probably hate him just on general vigilante principles alone. i want jim to meet kate and doyle, and for cordelia to run roughshod over him until blair comes to his rescue. <g> the amusing disbelief in vampires would come, imho, from poor simon. by this point i would *hope* that if blair said, "jim, that's a vampire," jim would reply, "okay, but i'm not wearing garlic, chief, because it makes me sneeze too."
here's an interesting thought, given that doyle has proven that human/demon crosses are genetically feasible: what if sentinels and/or guides are actually *not* full humans? (we still know nothing about jim's mom or blair's dad!)

Now that's an interesting thought. I'd go for guides as maybe a human/demon hybrid. Can you see William Ellison sleeping with a demon? Naomi, sure, it's all about the love. Besides, Doyle can be Angel's guide.

<snickering> And if this were the X-Files, Jim's mom and Blair's dad could have been the same person....(remember those sex-changing aliens?)

Wait a minute, remember, human/ANGEL crossbreeds are possible too...and wouldn't it be interesting to see how they relate to human/demon crossbreeds? :) Funny, nobody ever talks about anything except human/demon...not on tv, not in Xanth....<big dramatic sigh> Well there are constant references in Sendom to 'Angel Blair', referring to his appearance, I think. So what if Naomi had *that* sort of visitation some night? LOL Oh boy, I just know I'm gonna get struck down for this...<watching the sky>

Or maybe she was visited by the big guy himself? I can see it all coming back to Blair while he's touring with a roadshow production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" after he got the boot from Rainier. Della Reese, as Mary Magdalene, is on hand for support.
BTW, hi guys, I've missed you!

Hey Blair. Glad to see you back. How are you doing? It has been pretty quiet around here, it is because we are all on a Tuesday high each week. i like that idea better myself. feels like "cheating" to have sentinels partially nonhuman. <g> (although, oh, the angst for jim if it were so! it's almost worth it just for that. poor jim, so worried about being a "freak" -- it would make him so *happy* to have a little brother who turned green and spiky when he sneezed, because he wouldn't be the only one in the family then.)

*snerk* sure i can! they'd get along famously, i'd imagine.
...actually, i was thinking accidentally, and the divorce was from the discovery...but now that you mention it -- we don't really know *what* ellison sr. does for a living, do we? just that it involves lots of travel. he could very well be a silent backer to any number of demonic or otherwise otherworldly consortiums.
wow. look at those plot bunnies stampede.
> Naomi, sure, it's >all about the love. Besides, Doyle can be Angel's guide.
...then again, it's jim who gets the regular visions (just like doyle), not blair. blair is more watcher material...watchers as demons?...or demonologist...he'd be fascinated by that demon ethnographer, doyle's ex...i bet he'd have the mind to be a truly impressive witch, if he got access to the right books and encouragement to study them.

p.s. reading back over this, i thought i ought to make it clear that in spite of my history of writing nc-17 fanfic, i don't mean that i "see", in any literal visualize-in-my-head-for-fiction-purposes sense, ellison sr. and nonhuman wife doing anything more than, oh, patting each other on the shoulders. i'm too identified with jim not to have a "parents" squick there. <eg> -- cmshaw at geocities dot com in neighborhood Area51 / Shire / 6930 ** for obvious reasons, you can't use the email in the headers **

Boy, would Ellison Sr. have a fit. Both his boys wind up being "freaks." What would he tell his golf buddies? <g>

He could join Wolfram and Hart. Heck, for all we know he is a part of the law firm.

Blair as demonologist. Hmm, I could see it. That way Jim could have an angsty Doyle-moment. Not that our boy doesn't do wonderful angst himself.

I understand completely. Of course I don't wanna think about Ellison Sr. and anybody, even that patting shoulders thing. Yick.

hmm. in the buffyverse, *is* there a distinction between angels and demons? in practical, physical terms, i mean. seems like "demons" get send around to "bring balance" (to the force...oops, wrong fandom) fairly often: whistler and doyle both had "assignments" from some unspecified "higher power".

Haven't seen an episode of Buffy The Series or Angel, from what I understand they took the main joke of the movie that this blonde barbie-girl cheerleader Valley princess was responsible for saving mankind and turned her into some kind of geek-chic coolgal in a weird universe. And Angel sounds too much like Forever Knight but with more dramatic cheekbones.

Not only read it, but loved it! And her latest in the series as well! Man, what a concept! If you haven't read it, run, don't walk to read Inferno! And I really, really have just one more thing to say...
DL did a great job researching Lilith and understanding the "myths" behind her. Now, where did I shove that copy of the Gnostic Text......

I thought the 'angel' references were in regard to what are typically called 'angel shots' in film production -- where an actor or actress happens to be lit and lensed from angles that lend them even more 'beauty' than they inherently have. For TS, there are certain shots of Blair/Garrett that really emphasize his hair and eyes, for example, and I was told that's what is meant by angel shots -- nothing to do with supernatural beings.
actually, i think you dropped an attribution there. trilly said this:

well, that's what is *usually* meant by "angel shots" -- but who knows how or why a muse latches onto a particular phrase? <g>

Hey Patt! Congrats on catching up with TS. Not a bad way to spend a few hours is it? The drama, the action, the guys.
Speaking of guys, mine's leaving me all ready. No, I'm not that heinous! It's just hunting season is starting and my honey, brother, brother-in-law and the twins on the corner are all very outdoorsy. Oh, I don't know. I watched FK and I didn't think it was all that. I mean, despite Catherine Disher who was great as the evil alien leader Mana on War of the Worlds. As for Angel, it's a decent series even if it is a bit directionless. Too bad about Doyle, though, especially since Cordelia was just warming up to him--even though she was banging him on the head with a tray.
Then again, maybe I can just relate more to a character like Cordelia. I just loved her when she finally faced off with the ghost lady.
