Thanks
WOW! These are excellent nominees! As much as I love Seinfeld, I'm
gonna have to go with either Lucy or Carol Burnett.

Agreed, how awesome would it be to see the crew get another emmy?!

How sad is it that there are shows who have been off the air for over ten
years that are funnier than shows that are on today?

I'm with you, Alexis, and the other Seinies here. But Lucy and the
candy factory bit was the best comedy in the history of television.
You just can't compare classic tv with modern stuff. There's no
contest.
(Did someone say "contest"?) Congratulations, George.

Seinfeld is a classic television show too. Next thing you'll say is that
Seinfeld has to have its own TV medium! Ah but I won't call you
anti-Seinfeldite: you have the right to like Lucy (although I personnally
never liked its conducive title and, to me, the show was too loud - right
there with Charlie Chapelin - pun intended) but remember, folks who were
born the year The Contest aired are far from babies now (except
metaphorically, hopefully for their sake) so to me that doesn't make the
term "modern" stick to Seinfeld. I donno, call me names, but that show is
beyond the bounderies of any particular era. It's hard to explain you know,
but unlike so many TV shows of any decade you may pick, Seinfeld is not
"attached" to its epoch... just an opinion.
And, please don't take this the wrong way: don't sound like that virgin: The
Contest deserves a vote; it is great comedy!

I totally agree that Seinfeld is beyond the boundaries of any era.
It's the most original tv comedy ever. Unlike other sitcoms, Seinfeld
takes it to a whole other level. A show about nothing...BRILLIANT!

I'm glad that Seinfeld is nominated for this prize...but I didn't
think that clip from The Contest was the funniest tv moment. I thought
there were much funnier scenes. For example, the Christmas card scene
with George and Elaine:
GEORGE: Why didn't I get a Christmas card?
ELAINE: You want a Christmas card? Here's your Christmas card.

I'm kinda partial to the scene where George is recounting his adventure as a
marine biologist ("The sea was angry that day, my friends"). The look on
Kramer's face when George produced the golf ball was priceless.

What did you do today? Nothing? *That's* a show.
Loren
Yes! That was hilarious! It's probably a better example since that
scene includes the whole cast. For the record, THE MARINE BIOLOGIST is
among my top ten faves.
