If there were a Special Olympics for Syfy movies, this one would have
a front-of-the-short-bus seat for an Oscar...

I didn't even last 5min - as much as I like Patrick Labyorteaux (Lt Bud
Roberts, JAG), he must be out of $$...

awful only begins to describe the < 5min I saw.

There is no way that it could be as bad as
"Mysterious Island" on syfy - dont !
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1705125/

I want my two hours back !

I kept on expecting it to get better and ...
then the end came. It got worse.

Alien Apocalypse. I mean, really, how can you make a B movie with
Bruce Campbell that's so bad it's just *bad*? And the blonde from
Xena, in a form fitting white jumpsuit, who couldn't even salvage the
scenes she was in.

(And I'm told Man with the Screaming Brain was even worse, but I'll
never know, having learned from the first one.)

Yeah, the Asylum must be suffering personnel cutbacks as each
succeeding movie gets cheaper and cheaper in its production values.
Some huge glacier that once cut off raced thousands of miles
southward; based on what cause? Horrible effects and the script made
not much sense. The gang was on their way south from Maine yet
somehow got around the glacier which had already pulverized Boston.
And at several times it seemed they drove into the glacier's path,
like at the end when they drove east towards it.

Only amusing part: all week my Time Warner on screen guide had this
film's plot as the Ray Romano Ice Age animated movie of some years
back.

Man With the Screaming Brain was *this* close to being good. One more
script pass, a couple reshoots, enough coverage you could reedit and
pick up the pace, and you might really have something here. As it is,
it's just ... plodding. All these things shot in metric countries seem
to be.

And yet, Ice Age was worse.

I actually gave up about 10 minutes before the end and just turned it
off, with them still flying towards New York. I didn't care if Bud
lived, I hoped the son would die, and I'd have killed the wife and/or
daughter myself. So basically I was rooting for the glacier.

They think their trick of starting every title with a number is enough,
on the theory that we all choose what to watch alphabetically.

Indeed. Most Syfy Saturday movies are just bad enough to make me
shake my head and get a few laughs.

'2012: Ice Age' was different. I actually found myself getting angry
that anyone would intentionally shovel out such a load of crap on
other human beings. Crap plot, crap CGI, crap script, crappity-crap
acting... any one of which would be worth a chuckle, but all together
- downright offensive. Like having a fastfood joint serve you a
burger with rat parts in plain sight.

Like the other thread next door, I miss the better days when there was
usually something of interest and quality available on SciFi, be it
the earlier days of Stargate SG-1 when it was funny; or when SciFi
reran Babylon 5. Now, it's mostly just wrasslin' idiocy and really
bad straight-to-the-crapper movies.

Yeah, I know I need a life. I know I should just turn it off. But,
dangit, I pay enough to the cable company each month to deserve a
little more than someone taking a piss on my shoes.
