Yeah. And Skiffy (The Sci-Fi Channel) USED to be worth watching
when it was all S-F. But in recent years it's been filled with GARBAGY
*horror* movies and totally OFF-topic **wrestling**!!!

WRESTLING?!?! On the SCI-FI Channel??? What the HELL???!!?

And if they want to show horror movies, someone should START
a *Horror Channel* where they would be ON-topic!

Just think of all the GREAT S-F classic TV that the Sci-Fi Channel
COULD be showing, from the '50s" "Captain Video," Science Fiction
Theater," One Step Beyond," ALL of the "Twilight Zone" and "Outer
Limits" series from the '50s to recently.

And there are HORDES of S-F movies that they likely have NEVER
yet shown. Has anyone ever seen "The Questor Tapes" or "Brother-
hood of the Bell" on Sci-Fi? (The latter is marginally S-F; the former is
a GREAT sci-fi flick!)

I got hooked on the IRT series in the History Channel because
of MY trips up the Kamikaze Trail back in 1976. Thee it all was to
see an enjoy again -- the sloping bridge across the Yukon River...
the Beaver Slide... the beautiful Atigun Pass over the Brooks Range;
the tundra of the North Slope that seems to extend into infinity.
And the Chandalar Shelf. They CALL it "The Shelf" on the show, but
it's REALLY the "Chandalar Shelf." And the Chandalar Camp of the
Alyeska Pipeline Service company, which was there while the pipe-
line was being built, stood right between the top of the Chandalar
Shelf incline and the base of the Brooks Range at Atigun Pass. It's
interesting to note that as one ascends the Chandalar Shelf, one
leaves the LAST trees of the Alaskan taiga behind. From there on
north, it's ALL tundra. Vegetation that feels like you're treading on
*sponges* as you walk on it! There are NO trees growing in the
hundreds of miles of terrain above the Chandalar Shelf. I don't
think that's ever been mentioned on the show as yet.

It WOULD have been a fun day for me to watch TV today! I
wish the History Channel had had it's act together and NOT loused
its schedule!!

The Ancient Alien stuff I enjoy, most of the other shows that they have
aren't really that good - but they get high ratings. That's the name of
the game. History is part of the A&E TV Networks. We're members of the
History Channel club, and the bimonthly magazine is enjoyable.

The wrestling is their highest rated show. The change over from SciFi
to Syfy was to broaden their appeal. They thought the SciFi name was
too limiting. And as part of the NBC-Universal-Comcast set of channels,
we know that audience is key - not content.

Chiller channel exists - on some systems. Also owned by NBC-Universal

The problem with showing them is getting the rights to broadcast. Since
SciFi/Syfy tends to do things on the "cheap", if the rights are too high,
they don't try to get them. Some of their original TV Series have been
quite watchable - others not so. BSG was a critical success, SG1 was
purchased from Showtime, and had a good run, spawned SGA which had a 5yr
run, which spawned SGU - which was way to dark and wound up being cancelled.
The Dresden files was one of my all-time favorites - but somehow didn't
survive more than 13 episodes :-(

Sky TV channels here in New Zealand are just as hopeless - some of the
channels often have completely different shows to those advertised (even
in Sky's own on-screen listings!). :-(

With a little luck, "the enemies" will be heavily armed and in a bad
mood when you HARASS them...

This has been updated. Se ending of the SIG, below.

> With a little luck, "the enemies" will be heavily armed and

Those dweebish little cowardly bigoted WIMPS!!!

ROTFL!! Having ZERO *facts* on their side, and nothing
but SHAMEFUL bigoted agendas, those weasily little WIMPS
are such craven COWARDS that they don't even have the
courage of their convictions to post their specious and vac-
uous hate-swill under their REAL, FULL names.

As an egalitarian who proudly *supports* Human and Civil
rights, I have NO such problem. ALL 25,000+ post I've put
up in Usenet -- and ALL other of my writings that have appear-
ANYWHERE and EVERYwhere else during my entire LIFETIME,
have been under MY real, full name. Without one iota of
hesitation.

Bigoted lowlifes are impotent and cowardly WUSSES.

Laughingstocks.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

NOTE ---

It is EASY to understand why almost ALL hateful and ignorant
bigots cravenly cower behind aliases and phony names, while MANY
intelligent egalitarians proudly and without hesitation post under
their full REAL names (as I have *always* done, in ALL of my posts).
It's for the same reason that KKK members cowered under hoods.
Because they supported SHAMEFUL agendas, and didn't want to
have such abject stupidity EXPOSED to their friends and neighbors,
and thus be subjected to well-deserved ridicule. While on the other
hand, egalitarians who support and defend personal LIBERTIES
have absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of.

Why not a TV series called ONLY IN AMERICA, that would showcase only all the
