Season 3 in PAL format

cool in their original format, smooth as silk motion with no NTSC
juddering getting in the way. Now I'll be able to watch S3 on my portable
DVD player finally :)

Huh? Since when was Reboot originally in PAL format? It was made in
Canada, which uses NTSC just like the U.S. and Japan. It probably just
looks better on your system in PAL because that's the system you use, so
there's no coversion required during playback. But I would be quite
surprised if a Canadian show was made in PAL, especially since it's
primary target was the U.S. market.

When Mairi Welman was still the Director of Communications for Mainframe, she
informed us that Mainframe was a PAL facility.

Yes, Reboot was made in Canada, but it was also produced in Pal and only
converted to NTSC for delivery to the networks. That was the way all the
Mainframe shows were made, up to 16 months ago anyway. Mainframe was set up
as a Pal facility from the word go.

I don't know which I find odder, that Mainframe was setup as a PAL
facility in an NTSC land, or that a pulldown technique was used to
convert it to NTSC rather than a field/frame blending technique.
Ah well, it's nice to be able to 'undo' the pulldown to restore the
PAL frames, can't get it 100% perfect, more like 99.9% as every minute
or two there's a frame jump (but hardly noticable), just wish I could
work out how to 'undo' it perfectly, and get hold of some season 4
VHSs recorded in America too...

Hmm, interesting! Well, I guess that's the new thing I learned today.
That's certainly odd, I'll have to read over that old article. I've never
heard of a North American video production being made in PAL before, other
than perhaps as an "artistic" choice or whatever.

I didn't think anyone over would have tapes of it, that's so cool.
I'd love to borrow those tapes sometime, unfortunately I can't use my
best capture hardware as it can't capture NTSC tapes on a PAL VCR, but
that doesn't mean I can't capture it :)
[dreams of having all four series in PAL format, 3 down, 1 to go...]

Correction, I've solved that frame skip bug now and have the entire 3rd
season in full PAL format :-)
