Re the Cinematography, you'd have to be really unlucky not to get some
beautiful landscape shots in areas so gorgeously rendered by nature. But
I doubt viewers of Ep 1 stuck to it long enough to get the full view.

Re Mr McKellen, no offense, but he didn't wow me, even though I wanted
him to (or 2).

I thought he was by far the best actor in the show. I realize that's not
saying much. The "Breath in... breath out... More... Village..." scene
was worth the nomination by itself.
