Sad news - Charlotte Wallace, the last surviving child of
Portmeirion's architect Clough Williams-Ellis, died on December 30th
aged 89. Having lived in New Zealand for most of her adult life, she
will have been less well-known to fans of the village than her elder
sister Susan, the designer of Portmeirion Pottery, but she retained
close links with Portmeirion as one of the trustees of the foundation
that owns it, and appeared in the BBC Wales documentary about the
village in 2006, recounting her memories of the opening of the hotel
in 1926.
