Wellllll. We are getting a bit away from badges when I inquire:
Really?

Perhaps Mrs B IS a Prisoner. I'd have said one of the "themes" of T_P
is that wee are ALL Prisoners. Some of us have a bit of authority,
but many prisons use a trustee system.

Some of us come and go, but many prisons have paroles and furlough
schemes.

This features a major spoiler for "Many Happy Returns"...

Now there's a thought. But if you're going to pursue that line of
thinking, why shouldn't the other number 2's be prisoners too?

"Has it ever occurred to you that you are as much a prisoner as I?"
"Of course, we're both lifers..."
- conversation between 6 and 2, Chimes of Big Ben.

And what happens to the number 2's when they get replaced? They haven't
all failed miserably, and at least two (Colin Gordon, Leo McKern) come
back for another go. They don't appear in the village. Presumably they
aren't simply murdered.

You could theorise for ages, BUT, I think there isn't enough evidence to
point to Mrs B. as the sole "Number 2" prisoner. I still subscribe to
the "goes nice with light clothing" black badge theory.

(Could you blatantly point out spoilers for the last couple of episodes,
for someone who is desperately trying not to hear _anything_ until UK TV
Falls Out in about seventeen weeks :) )

Be seeing you,

Indeed. P'raps they are. P'raps the only "non prisoners" are the
non-numbers. Clearly several of the number two's feel themselves
under threat. I seem to recall a bit from Hamlet, about prisonership,
roughly:

Why then 'tis only your thinking its a prison makes it one.

(Which of course stands the Village==Prison=="bad" concept on its
head...)
