Last night on TV I watched the Tom Hanks film "Cast Away". An underrated
film, very possibly, in which Hanks' character spends four years marooned on
a desert island after a plane crashes into the sea. Looking in "imdb" for
some information about the actors, I saw a "trivia" note saying that some of
the scenes in which he builds and escapes on an improvised raft were a form
of tribute to similar scenes in "Many Happy Returns". Must say this didn't
occur to me and it's hard to see any specific inspiration, but for what it's
worth...
It sounds like nonsense.
