Please can you tell me are the Network dvd and blu-ray the same (HD
aside) or does one contain anything that the other does not?
I thought at the time the dvd was released it was praised for the
quality of the picture but I think there were reports of some errors.
What were they? I can't remember now and I haven't been able to find
the old posts. Weren't the credits mixed-up or something such that the
wrong actors were billed as number 2. Have they been fixed on the
blu-ray?
Is the blu-ray now the set of choice?
Thanks.
Be seeing you.
On the Network DVD set, it had the wrong titles/No.2 voice on a couple
of episodes (not sure which off hand). However, they looked absolutely
fantastic...so it never *really* bothered me that much. In saying that,
though, I'm glad I keep hold of an old Carlton set, even though I never
watch them over the Network set.
I believe the Blu-Ray set has something or another in the way of extras
over the DVD's, but I don't know what. I'm sure I heard there was
though. Either that or I'm just assuming there was, as it is normally
the way.
I did have the BD set on pre-order, but cancelled. I did so when I
realised my Oppo DVD player upscales the Network DVD's to fantastic
effect. I'm sure the BD's do look better still, but I have bought every
single incarnation of The Prisoner on home video there has ever
been....and ultimately I decided to draw a line in the sand. I'm sure
they'll wink at me from a shelf in some future sales, but until then I
am more than happy with the DVD's.
