Sarah Palin, the new Number Six

thought this story, which picks up on the more down-to-earth aspects
of "The Prisoner [1967]" (as we must now call it.. :o)) ] and its
frequently witty relevance to things that actually matter in life,
was a quite refreshing antidote.
Any remake would have benefited from featuring a female Number Six
anyhow, if only to deflect comparison to the original.

That's just too easy a way of bring different for my liking. However, in
saying that, it seems it was the writers striving to be radically
'different' that caused them to lose a sense of perspective and mess up
so badly...so perhaps a few of the easier creative decisions would have
been preferable after all.
I just tend to make a lot of tutting noises when someone suggests the
next Doctor Who should be female, for example, and I suppose I'm
applying the same sentiments here...I don't quite know.

The Prisoner, remade as a feminist treatise: excellent idea! Of course,
there would still be no kissing...

Tax doesn't have to be taxing (English VAT tax joke, for those who are
wondering)

AND a grand-daughter - a plot device that has been scandalously
underexploited since the very early stories.
