It's called continuity, or lack there-of.
I find it so amazing that you all can spot things like this. I am lucky I
watch the show right. LOL good for you. I wonder what it is called when you
spot out all of the mistakes they made? Does anyone know?

Temperature changing shoes? The ones that are acid based or something?
I noticed that, too, and it tickled me. I don't know what goofs are
called, either. They are usually more careful than that about
continuity.

I think in this case it's less of a continuity thing and more of a
safety issue. The boots he usually wears (and was wearing for the rest
of the scene) don't look like they would be the footwear of choice for
jumping over a very high fence. I think that for safety sake they had
him jump over hoping that no one would notice the change in that split
second (don't they realize that we tape these things and play them over
and over again to answer little questions like this!!) My problem was
that they didn't at least use black sneakers!!

I guess it'd be too much to hope that it was a sly in-joke a la the
cockroach scurrying across the T.V. screen in that X-Files episode?
Y'know, 'cause the Centre was "using" the hoodlum? I admit it's much more
likely to be a gaffe.
