DANI / ELL / IA
So WHAT is this child's name? Tea calls her Daniela, with a strong Hispanic
accent. Ross calls her Dani. The kid at school calls her Danielle. Have
they even decided on this character's name yet, or are they trying to see
which name the audience likes best before actually committing to anything?
WAIT, WHAT?
Okay, we long-time viewers could ALMOST forgive Cole being older than Starr.
We remember that Starr was already a few years old when Marty left Llanview
as a pregnant bride, but if we muddle up our minds a little bit, maybe we
can gloss over that factoid, and the newer viewers never have to know the
truth at all. But how are ANY of us supposed to reconcile Dani/ell/ia being
older than Jack? Even the newbies are hearing the story of how Todd and Tea
got together while on the island that they got stuck on because Ross
kidnapped Todd's KIDS, plural, which would have to include Jack. This isn't
just some slip of memory; this is a story that they are explicitly
revisiting and repeating ad nauseum in order to set up the fact that T&T
have a child. So folks are supposed to go, "Ahh, okay, when Jack was a
youngster, Ross tried to kidnap him, and then Tea had Dani/ell/ia after
that..." Which makes it so weird that she's old enough to babysit him.
MY KID
Ross, she's your daughter, she's a girl, she has a name. Yeah, I get that
when Dani/ell/ia was unknown to the audience, Ross had to be deliberately
vague in order to keep us guessing. But even after her identify was
revealed, he STILL called her My Kid. What, are you Todd now? Try "My
girl," "My daughter," "My angel," "My child," "My little girl," "My baby,"
anything but My Kid. Mix it up a little, geez.
MY HUSBAND. MY HUSBAND. MY HUSBAND.
Natalie. We get it. Jared is your husband. You've made that abundantly
clear. Do you have to keep reminding all of us of this in every single
scene?
WHERE ARE HARRY, RON, AND HERMIONE?
Dear Headmistress of Archaic British School: Professor McGonagall called.
She wants her ENTIRE CHARACTER back.
THOSE UNSTOPPABLE EVANS TWINS
Between Destiny's childish insistence that Shaun would recover because her
brother Greg is the BESTEST BEST DOCTOR IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD, and Shaun's
childish insistence that he and Rachel are all but headed to the alter,
these two have more clueless optimism than Dorian thinking she can win an
election by pretending she's gay.
I SPENT HOURS ON A ROBOT COSTUME WITH SILVER LAM AND LED LIGHTS, AND YET...
The two finalists at the costume contest were THOSE guys? The Mannings were
barely wearing more than t-shirts and spandex body suits, while the Marascos
were wearing costumes that had to be delivered (AKA, they were from a
store). Yes, I know the contest was supposed to highlight a dumb feud
between these two families, but couldn't the show's costumers have come up
with something more original and, you know, good enough to win a contest?
Put the Mannings in authentic Sgt. Pepper outfits (complete with hair), and
let Gigi and Co. arrive in Human Evolution costumes that Gigi made herself
out of old coats she got from the Lost and Found at Rodi's, since she's a
barmaid and can't afford to rent costumes. Seriously, were these the only
people that ENTERED the contest?

Danielle pronounced with a strong Hispanic accent would sound like
Daniela. And I am sure Téa would like to stress the latina roots.
However, the child was born in Tahiti which is part of French
Polynesia (and which I probably misspelled). In my non-soap opera role
as a genealogist, I have seen birth records from Tahiti and they are
multi-lingual, but the prominent language is French. Danielle is the
French form of Daniela so she is probably named Danielle, called
Daniela by su madre, and nicknamed Dani by everyone else. But I
seriously doubt the writer's put as miuch thought into it as I just
did :)
Of course Ross is getting her used to being called Mykid so it wont be
so shocking when her real father, Todd, starts calling her that
.
Dan in Denver
Shades of Dorian and her Adrianna!
Just imagine if Danielle ends up in the same roof as Todd's other
kids...
Todd: Hey, Mykid!
Starr, Jack, Sam, Danielle: Yes, dad?
As per the costume contest, maybe the Mannings could have won if the
judges hadn't already seen someone wearing the same thing on AMC
earlier. Todd probably lost votes instead of gaining them with his
strip-tease dance (in front of a bunch of children...after he just got
into it with someone else about sex offenders...you just know that the
whole dance was TSJ being silly for the cameras - just like when he was
trying to catch the bouquet at the double wedding - no wonder people get
so upset with his portrayal of Todd - the guy cares more about doing
what he thinks is cute instead of caring whether or not it fits the
character)
Given how Disney had acquired Marvel, i was kind of surprised that the
comic team owned by DC ended up winning!

I was actually surprised at how Tea pronounces her own name...

I didn't know about any of this, besides what they've said. Now,
they're outright saying this happened 15 years ago, but you're right,
the numbers just don't add up...!

I might be misremembering, but I could have SWORN that he said "My
son" at least once...Nice fake-out with Matthew's roomie, Tom, tho!

Natalie's been annoying as hell all through this storyline. Now she's
apparently gonna blame JOHN for her troubles?? WTF?

Well, they did make the requisite Quidditch joke! And Matthew's
roommate even resembled young Tom Riddle...

While I agree with what many/most here have said about Destiny, I must
admit that her delivery *has* gotten a *little* better since I started
watching (I shudder to think how bad she must have been when she first
appeared!)...But really, this is just embarrassing for a professional
show, and an insult to all the acting kids who CAN act. If nepotism
isn't at fault here, then I'm just baffled.

As a big comic book fan, I was just amused that those costumes were
even used...I wouldn't have thought anyone would even know who the
Fantastic Four WAS, let alone make some of the in-jokes they did!
