Beloved soap-opera veteran Phil Carey =3F whom One Life to Live fans
know as billionaire cowboy Asa Buchanan =3F is leaving Llanview when his
contract expires in April.

"Phil Carey and Asa Buchanan have always been an important part of One
Life to Live," the show's rep tells. "At this time, Mr. Carey has
decided not to accept the recent offer to appear on a recurring basis."

That's putting it mildly. Word is that Carey objected to being taken
off contract in words that are a little too spicy to print!

Carey =3F who has played Asa on and off since 1979 =3F recently returned
to OLTL after a rough battle with lung cancer.

Randolph Mantooth (Loving/The City) has been tapped for a recurring
role on One Life to Live: He'll play Kirk Harmon, the father of
underwear-modeling jock Tate Harmon (Chris Beetem). The character will
debut sometime in May.

FYI, Mantooth has previously appeared on OLTL. His City character Alex
Masters briefly visited Llanview in 1997.

******************

Earlier this month, Tuc Watkins briefly returned to "One Life to
Live" for a couple of episodes as his character David Vickers was
arrested in the murder of his brother Spencer Truman. The move left
many viewers thinking it was the last we would be seeing of the
lovable conman. However, according to ABC Soaps In Depth, Watkins
will again return to "OLTL" for a few episodes in May to wrap up the
storyline involving Spencer's murder. While details on Watkins'
latest visit to Llanview are sketchy, it is speculated that it will
be revealed that not only is he not Spencer's killer, but that he is
also Asa Buchanan's son.

Even though his character was murdered more than a month ago, Paul
Satterfied makes a brief return to "OLTL" during the week of April
2nd as Spencer Truman. The scene has a drunken Miles believing he is
talking to Spencer after receiving a letter from him written before
his death.

Ex-boxer David Vadium has been cast in the recurring role of
Bruiser, who will fight Cole. Vadium will first air April 4th.

******************

Since taking over the role of Blair Cramer Manning on "One Life to
Live" in 1993, Kentucky native Kassie DePaiva has been involved in
numerous projects when not needed on the set. Later this year, that
list will continue to grow.

On May 22nd, the same day as the release of her third cd entitled "I
Want to Love You," DePaiva will fill in as co-host on "The View,"
where she will sing a song from the cd. Two of the songs on the CD
were written by DePaiva herself.

This fall, DePaiva will also make her PBS debut as host of the new
show "Knit and Crochet Today." The show will be carried on PBS
stations nationwide, and is sponsored by Coates and Clark. Each
week, DePaiva will be joined by guests who will assist her with the
projects. Taping for the show began in January and will air in
September. The show is taped in Detroit, Michigan. Check with your
local PBS station to see when it will air in your area.

And DePaiva's latest batch of 'Happy Hats' will be available on her
website in mid-April. The hats are made by DePaiva herself and are
sold through her website. All proceeds go to the League of Hard of
Hearing. She and her former "OLTL" co-star James DePaiva have a
child who with hearing difficulties.

Jessica and Nash each gave Antonio bogus explanations of what
happened in the storage room during the fire at Capricorn, but we
still want to know what the heck compelled Jess and Nash to get it on
while a fire was blazing outside. So, we went straight to the source.
Here, Forbes March discusses the hows and whys of his character's
tendency to get into steamy situations.

Jessica and Nash have a habit of getting stuck in close quarters
together: the cave, the steam room, and most recently, the storage
room. What was Nash doing in that steam room anyway?
Forbes March: There was a whole discussion on whether Nash should be
in shape and I decided Nash should be in better shape than Forbes is
without working out. I just don't get the feeling that Nash is a go-
to-the-gym kinda guy. The writers actually picked up on that. They
wrote a scene with Antonio and Nash at the gym, and the whole gag was
Nash doesn't work out; he seems to spend a lot of time in the steam
room. He's always in the steam room [laughs]! I questioned them about
that, but apparently, everybody else seems to be okay with that.

He probably stays in shape stocking those shelves in the back room at
Capricorn.
March: He's definitely doing something to stay in shape in that stock
room!

Which brings me to my next question. So the fire is blazing outside
the storage room and Jessica and Nash are aware of it. Why do they
choose that moment to get it on?
March: Well, I don't think it was really chosen; that's why they call
it 'sparks.' These two choose not to be together; it's just that it
keeps happening. Whenever anything happens, they just kind of jump on
each other and realize they should have been stopped. These two
really want to be together, kind of anywhere. And any time anything
happens to allow that, that's their natural instinct. This whole
story is desire over duty. And when duty weakens for any reason,
desire jumps in to the fill the void. So they're stuck in this closed
space and they're about to die and they panic and they embrace
and ... oops!

Well, it was also convenient that he took his shirt off first to put
it under the door.
March: Well, yes. That's what I would do. I wouldn't use the towels.
I would use my shirt. Especially if there's a hot blonde who I'd
really like to make out with in the room.... Pants! That's what I
should have used. I mean, my pants are longer. They didn't want that.
I though it would have been really funny if Nash pulled off his pants
and was left with a long shirt with his shirttails hangin' down.

Did you suggest that?
March: I did. They didn't go for it. I thought he should be in, like,
Fruit of the Loom, you know, what do you call those things? Boxer
briefs? No, Fruit of the Loom tighty-whities and a white shirt and no
pants. And black socks [laughs].

Instead, Antonio finds a tablecloth and drapes it over himself.
March: Which Nash couldn't fit under. And having abandoned all hope
of further life, he decides to leave the door open.

*****************

John and Natalie agree to breakup, but not before making love one
last time. Natalie defends John to Roxy.

To make peace, Starr agrees to stop seeing Cole.

Nora is horrified to learn the arson crimes may have been set by a
hate group with the motto "one pure people." Shaun's grandparent's
house burns down. Vincent decides to track down the arsonist.

Clint and Dorian's chat ends in a kiss. Viki becomes smitten with
Dr. Douglas Kline, a new doctor at the hospital. Dorian finds
private pleasure in watching Viki make a fool of herself in front of
Doug. Viki and Natalie struggle with the problems in their love
lives.

Tate charms Adriana, and leaves her a little jealous.

Marty accepts Miles apology.

Todd digs a hole for himself by telling Evangeline he is a great
cook. Evangeline and Marty have a run-in.

Cole picks a fight at the gym.

Jessica has doubts about adopting Jamie, but later angrily signs the
adoption papers in front of Nash.

While all boozed up, Miles imagines Spencer is in the room with him.
Spencer encourages him to fight for what he wants. Miles becomes
clearly disturbed when he receives a letter from Spencer written
before his death. He later tells Todd that he has information on his
son. Todd tells Miles that his son is dead, but Miles tells Todd
that Spencer had no reason to lie to him. Miles debates whether or
not to give Todd the information. He decides to give Todd a clue,
which he is able to decipher. Determined to locate his son, Todd
prepares to leave for Chicago. Evangeline insists on going with him;
prompting Blair to get hot under the collar when she sees them leave
together.

Next week:
Monday: Rex fears Todd will uncover the truth.
Tuesday: Nash makes a final plea for Jessica's heart.
Wednesday: John provieds Marty with a shoulder to lean on.

******************

It's over for John and Natalie, but that doesn't mean they can't still
have steamy ex sex!

Stung by Clint's rejection, Viki goes out on a date with a handsome
doctor from Llanview Hospital.

The attraction between Tate and Adriana is obvious to all.

Miles knows something about Todd's "dead" son.

Bo uncovers the evil motivation behind Llanview's recent arson spree.

**************

The internet is abuzz over extreme negotiations taking place right
now at OLTL. We are just about to get official word on the status of
Trevor St. John (Todd) and Renee Goldsberry (Evangeline).

OLTL fans were shocked this week with news that Phil Carey (Asa) is
out. Seems the show offered the legendary actor a recurring contract
which he has reportedly declined. The lovable performer (who has
enough piss and vinegar to make even Asa jealous) had just recently
returned from his battle with lung cancer and gets hit in the face
with this.

Evangeline and Todd finally give into their feelings and share a
passionate night that changes their lives forever. Evangeline is
worried when she begins to suffer blurred vision and dizziness. Todd
fears that something is happening to her vision when in truth she is
pregnant. Not knowing if the baby is Todd's or Cristian's leaves
Evangeline struggling with the plight of having to tell Cristian he
could be the father. What Evangeline doesn't know is that the nurse
in the gynecologists office is a high ranking member of the white
supremacist group responsible for the recent arsons. She is
thoroughly disgusted by Evangeline's confession to the doctor and
Evangeline turns up missing shortly afterwards. Nobody can locate
her. We later find that she is being held by the group in a dark and
dingy warehouse in the country where she is terrified for her life
and that of her unborn child. Cristian eventually gets clues that
lead him to one of the members as he is about to get into his car.
Cristian beats him within an inch of his life and forces the guy to
divulge Evangeline's whereabouts. Cristian goes there without back
up or telling anyone what he's found. He busts through a window and
spies Evangeline tied up, lying in a fetal position on the cold
basement floor. They lock eyes when suddenly a shot rings out and
Cristian is killed instantly. Apparently David Fumero is leaving the
show as he has just been cast in a movie that begins filming in
August 2007.

Randolph Mantooth (of "Emergency" and "Loving: fame) has just landed
the role of Tate Harmon's father Kirk on OLTL. He is set to debut in
May so get ready for a heavy helping of Tate Harmon here for quite
some time.

Rumors are gaining ground that Natalie risks her health to save
Jessica and ends up gravely ill as a result. The scenario has John
rushing to Natalie's side only to be rebuffed later when Natalie
declares she won't have love born out of pity. This could lead
Natalie in an entirely different direction when all is said and
done. Vincent and Natalie grow close with the show watching your
reaction even closer.

*****************

John and Natalie have a rather uncomfortable conversation about the
misunderstanding over the engagement ring he bought and the on-going
difficulties in their relationship. While keeping her emotions just
under the surface, she faces the truth - that she and John are
through. She later returns to John's apartment to pack up her stuff,
but in the process, she and John connect and have "break-up sex."

Nora and Evangeline are filled in on the latest news about the arson
investigation and are told that a hate group is probably behind all
the fires.

An open and frank conversation between Clint and Dorian leads to a
steamy kiss. Trying to move on, Viki meets Douglas Kline, a new
doctor at the hospital, and there's instant chemistry.

Miles tells Marty about Spencer's letter but doesn't go as far as to
tell her what it says. Todd tries to impress Evangeline by saying
he's a master chef, which ends up getting him in way over his head.
He asks Viki for her help, but neither she nor Natalie have the
emotional energy to deal with his latest drama. Miles tells a
shocked Todd that Spencer gave him information about where they
could find Todd's missing son. Todd thinks Miles is off his rocker
because, as far as he knows, his son is dead. Miles makes a very
good point, though, and asks why Spencer would lie to him.

Next week:
Todd nixes Evangeline.
Jessica signs Jamie's adoption papers in front of Nash.

Paul Satterfield (Spencer) returns the week of April 2nd in scenes
with Miles, as Miles decides whether or not it's the right thing to do
to help Marty's rapist find his son.

recurring role; he'll play Kirk Harmon, Tate's father, and will debut
sometime in May.
