From what I've heard, 10 (assuming by "episodes" you mean the "2 to a
show" kind) - it's supposed to be what's on the video tapes "Nautical
Nonsense" and "Sponge Buddies", plus a few added features. (Matt
Wilson pointed out on the Toon Zone forum that DVDReview had
information on it:

I can't decide which would be worse: no "audio commentary track", or a
commentary track by "SpongeBob and Patrick" (done "in character")

A commentary is probably out of the question, as Spongebob is "only" a
kids' show. I'm happy about the fact that it's receiving any extras at
all.

These days, when it comes to DVDs, the consumer expects more out of them, and I'm not talking about a clear picture or the
DVD's lasting durability (if taken care of properly). Consumers expect DVDs to have more extras, things that ordinary
videotape doesn't have. Extras such as foreign language sounndtracks and subtitles, running commentary by the people involved,
chapter selection (where you go straight to a particular scene without fast-forwarding it), documentaries, trailers & promos,
pictures, choice of pan-and-scan or widescreen (except for TV series, of course), and so on.
The DVD extras concept is a holdover from the days of laser discs -- those big, silver discs that are an early version of DVDs
and CDs. To entice movie buffs to buy them, they usually added extras that were exclusive to laserdisc.

I should also mention that "Rugrats" will also be getting the DVD treatment soon -- for the last few months, Amazon.Com has
been taking orders for the "Decade In Diapers" DVD, which, like SpongeBob, will have 2 videos on a single DVD. What's unknown
about it is if it'll include any extra features (besides what's already on the videos). Also unknown is the DVD's release date
-- Amazon.Com has been taking orders, though they mentioned that a release date has not been given yet.
