1. REMEMBRANCE DAY SPECIAL:
Join CBC Radio One for live coverage of Remembrance Day ceremonies
from the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Host Alison Smith will talk
to retired colonel Brian MacDonald, senior defence analyst at the
Conference of Defence Associations. Joining them will be Colonel Jean-
Francois Riffou…he once served as commander of the Operational Mentor
and Liaison Team in Kandahar, Afghanistan…and is now on staff at the
Canadian Forces College in Toronto. CBC reporter James Fitzmorris
will be on location at the War Memorial to bring listeners colour from
the ceremony - where Canadian veterans will be joined by the Prince of
Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. And the program turns to Kandahar
Airfield where James Murray will reveal how soldiers are marking the
day.

2. THE CURRENT:
Today on The Current… a 17-year-old boy from Coral Harbour, Nunavut
was saved earlier this week - after being stranded for three days on
an ice floe about 50 metres square. But even though the mission was
successful, it’s drawn attention to the lack of official search and
rescue operations throughout Canada's north. This morning, host Anna
Maria Tremonti looks at the call for search and rescue bases in the
Arctic…and finds out why individuals and northern security are at risk
without them.

This morning on Q… one of Canada’s preeminent writers, Margaret Atwood

in the not-so-distant future. She’ll be on the program to discuss how
this new work takes readers through a global meltdown and into a
dystopian society.

4. THE STORY FROM HERE:
This week on The Story From Here...as Canada prepares for its 90th
Remembrance Day, a Canadian poet packs for Afghanistan. Suzanne Steele
is part of the War Artist Program…and she's been training for
deployment along with the rest of the troops. On today’s program,
Steele describes how she’s readying herself for dust, bombs,
uncomfortable body armour and... frontline iambic pentameter.

Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution through natural selection forever
changed how people think about the living world. This year marks 150
years since the publication of his transformational and contentious
book, On the Origin of Species. And tonight, IDEAS will celebrate the
occasion through special series on Darwin’s legacy. In this four-part
retrospective, contributor Seth Feldman guides listeners through the
life and ideas of creative genius Charles Darwin. The first
installment, titled The Prepared Mind, journeys through the British
naturalist’s early years to his voyage of discovery on the H.M.S.
Beagle.

7. CANADA LIVE:
