La srie Les Boys vient d'tre mise KO par la CBC. On lui a prfr
l'adaptation en tlsrie du film sur le curling, Men with Brooms, du Canadien
Paul Gross.

Despite the rollicking series being renewed on Radio-Canada.
Time to renew the false rumour that CBC turned down "Corner Gas"?

----- very rough machine translation --

TLSRIE
"Les Boys" beaten by the curling
Michelle Bend-Lord
Journal de Montreal 28-10-2009 | 06:53

The series the "Les Boys" has just been put KB by the CBC. One preferred to
him the adaptation in telesery of film on the curling, "Men with Brooms", of
the Canadian Paul Gross. The producer Richard Goudreau, of the "Les Boys",
left without answer, is in anger and turns now to networks CTV and Global.

It is foolish for me. In full period of cuts, I arrive with a gaining series
which proved reliable so much with such as with the cinema, with a guarantee
of 2 million $ silent partners, and one is not even able to say to me why it
is not. I want the true answer, affirms with the Newspaper of Montreal the
producer Richard Goudreau.

One speaks here about the adaptation of the series the English "Les Boys" with
Jeff Abugov, a name considered in the world of television to the scenarisation
and the interest of an actor like Cuba Gooding Jr for this series.

The producer of the "Les Boys" works on this project since already more than
one year and was ready to provide a pilot. The project has been on standby for
already several months. In spite of several requests, Richard Goudreau forever
which been able to know the true conclusion of this file with the CBC.

And suddenly, I learn by reading a review on television that CBC decided to
adapt this comedy on the curling in television series. A comedy which
resembles to the "Les Boys". I am on the bottom. And I want to know the true
reason of this volte-face, adds it.

Answer of the CBC

Side of CBC, the laconic answer came from the communications director, Angus
McKinnon.

I assure you that CBC decided not to go from before with a series based on
the "Les Boys". Current a enough practice for the projects which are at the
stage of the design, says it.

That does not have a direction all that. At the time of my meetings, I felt
that there was interest. However, I have just looked at signal 20 of the
dimensions of listening with the CBC: the only emissions which pass the slope
and comptitionnent with the Americans, it is Hockey Night in Canada and this
telereality on the shoe with high-speed motorboats of hockey and figure
skating. And there, one turns to the curling. Moreover, we had already gained
a gold Reel against this film with the "Les Boys" at the Prices Genius, lance
Richard Goudreau.

English "Les Boys" and Canada

It ensures not to want to release the towel.

I test already the ground with other wide-area networks of TV of English
Canada. The success of the "Les Boys" is the first calling card and I know
that the televiewers of the other provinces will like this series, specifies
Richard Goudreau.

The series besides has just been renewed by Radio-Canada for a fourth season.
The third series will be presented in January to the SRC.

The sensitive to the cold CBC

It is not the first time that a gaining series of Radio-Canada does not pass
the slope to the CBC.

However sold in several countries, "Un garcon, Une fille" passed forever in
English Canada.

It there had some experiences gaining recent however with two series of Sphere
media, that is to say a two seasons adaptation of Sophie Paquin and a season
of Rumours.

Richard Blaimert, the author with success Highs and Lows of Sophie Paquin,
points out that its series also travels in other countries.

With CBC, I do not know why that finished. It is not easy for them, with the
presence of the American series. But it was an interesting experiment. The
series was bought by Switzerland, Belgium, France, indicates the author.

As for the "Les Boys" of Richard Goudreau, they will have been beaten by a
team of curling.

I, too, had searched Google News and Google Blogs for the phrase
"Les Boys" without success. As I said, I found the Journal de
Montreal website, but evidently this particular article was on
another part of Canoe. (And shame on them for dropping the section
of their site that talked about canoes.)
