2002 VMAs Review @ alt.music.korn

troubled by the fact No Doubt won more awards than POD. I think
"Alive" was a much better video than that N.D. song! It just shows
you what kind of crowd MTV is geared towards. Yet Linkin Park won for
Best Rock Video over System of a Down (hmmm)!? I mean like Linkin
Park and all but damn, there not all that!
I also was disturbed by the fact they didn't mention the deaths of
Lane
Staley, Dee Dee Ramone, or Dave Williams. Damn it they're people too,
they
had videos on MTV. That was a shame!
Did you notice how edited the
broadcast was? The VMAs didn't look so live as it seemed more like a
movie or something that was pre-recorded. I know that it was
supposed to be "live"...but there *definitley* was a digital delay
there.
Was it my imagination or did Axl sound pretty bad? I mean maybe he
couldn't hear himself, but his vocals sounded kinda crappy IMO. I
don't necessarily like Axl, but I respect him. But to me, that was no
GNR (that's the sad truth)! It was just Axl and a couple of freaks
wearing dresses and KFC buckets trying to be something they most
definitely are not! They can try all they want but it well never be
GNR (they really should rename themselves)! Then again, the guy with
the KFC bucket or "Buckethead" is one of the best/most
original/technical guitar players out there. Axl is lucky to have him
in his band. The other guitarist is Robin Finck of NIN, who's another
great guitarist.
Axl said it himself that most of those guys don't have the intensity
of
the original group. The only way I can justify Axl's performance is
that #1
he was running around and out of shape. #2 he wasn't all to prepared
to perform
that night. And #3 he's older than when he first started singing
those songs. All in all you know what thought, I'll buy the new and
I'll go to the show because no matter what, there's always something
about GNR keeps our interest.
In the end, This year's VMA's sucked!!! First Jimmy Fallen had those
bad
jokes about the Olsen Twins getting eaten by Fat Joe (hardly anyone
laghed). Then the worst joke ever recorded in history came up with
the American Idol Group. "I'm leaving...hopefully on a plane back to
London!"
By the way, Pink was looking *hot* even if she was drunk (that whole
drunk thing was funny)! And are those real tribal tattoos on her
arms? Personally, I don't think those tridal tattoos were real. It
would take a long time to heal and besides they we kind of cheesy
looking anyway.
