Does anyone else find it incredibly ironic, for lack of a better word,
that Elsig left us on 9/11?? I just find that incredibly... well... weird.

No, Vince. It isn't that you disagree with me or anyone else. Your way with
words brings out the best in people.
Belittling people, or trying to, is not necessary when trying to make a
point. Just because *you* don't agree with, or believe in something, doesn't
mean you have to be arrogant about it to someone who does.

At this time, an argument took place here? I cried, who is Mr. G? I
kid with
a radio, "the word" entered his life, a loving husband, a Dad, a
Grandfather, a
true gentleman. Do not add "words" of anger at this time.
His family "might" be reading ready this. Do not assume!

As I called him Mr. B, also as a nickname, Rest in Peace. Your family
mourns
and we thank you, Elsig's family for giving us his time and his
"words."

Oh now "I'm" the bad guy?

I have more decently then most people I don't go to service then
stab my friends or fellow employees in the back the rest of the week as
many goodies religious type do.
I tell the truth.
Tell me this:
Was what that bastard Jerry Falwell said after 9/11 in the name of god
a right thing?

Falwell's Shocking Words Denounced
As a guest on Pat Robertson's "700 Club" television show on Thursday,
the Rev. Jerry Falwell, a Baptist minister, said that supporters of
abortion rights,
gays, lesbians, and liberal civil rights bear some of the responsibility
for the terrorist
attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. He said, "God continues
to lift the curtain
and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve."
Later in the discussion,
Falwell said, "The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this...I point
the finger in their
face and say, 'You helped this happen.'" Robertson agreed with
Falwell. Christian groups
and churches are denouncing these words of blame and hate. "I call on
Jerry Falwell,
Pat Robertson, Flip Benham, and other religious extremists to put
aside their
self-righteous hatred and vengeance and pray with us," said the Rev.
Carlton W. Veazey,
president, Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. "They have gone
too far!"
The Right Reverend Jane Holmes Dixon, Episcopal Bishop of Washington and
the officiant of
the national prayer service on Friday, said, "There is much that we do
not yet know about
how this violence was wrought, but this horror absolutely did not come
from God."
Bishop Dixon noted that to blame the attack on God's will flies in the
face of Christian
theology. At this time of national mourning, she said "it is beyond
shameful to seek to
divide us by alleging that some of us are culpable because we hold
beliefs different from
those of Robertson and Falwell." --Cathryn Conroy

Vince, I'll try, again, even though it's pointless, to tell you that what I
said has nothing to do with this. I made no point about religion, pro or
con. I made a simple statement and your cheese slipped off your cracker.
Again. Anytime someone here tries to explain something in a rational way, it
never works. You always think your opinion is the only one that counts or
the only one that's correct. You have proven, time and time again that you
are not able to discuss, only belittle with major arrogance.

I have said this before that this will be my last response to you. I went
against my better judgement to try to have discussions, but alas...

However, I will never killfile you because I am amused by some of the things
you say. But like your spellchecker, neither of us think you're worth the
effort. If I want to deal with you, I'll open a day care center.

Well, I just started reading through this group, so I don't know
anything about previous interactions or history...but it doesn't seem
like he is pushing faith, just using it as a form of expression for
the sorrow at the loss of a talented individual. It is individual
preference and he is free to express himself in that manner if that is
his choice.

I'm not one that believes in this stuff, like it being ominous that he
died on 9/11. I'm sure there are plenty of people that died on 9/11,
and others that knew them may also feel as if were some sort of sign
or prophecy, but it just isn't so. No more a prophecy then those that
died on 6/23 or 7/15 or 12/09 or any other day of the year. It just a
coincidence.

I can appreciate being straight forward and/or candid (I usually am).
It sometimes rubs people the wrong way, even when I try to be tactful
about it, even when I try to be understanding.

Go back and reread the thread... nobody, as far as I know, since I do
have 2-3 people killfiled in the NG, used the word "ominous". I don't
know if English is your native language or not, but there IS a DISTINCT
difference between the words "ironic" (which is what I'm guessing you're
talking about) and "ominous". IMNSHO, there was nothing... not a
shred... that was ominous when it came to Elsig passing on 9/11. Yet,
there IS quite a bit of irony about that little factoid when you stop
and consider that M*A*S*H is one of the most all-time anti-war
television series' - ever.

That is dependent on one's perspective. Football fans probably
outnumber MASH fans, and Johnny U was a HOF QB who's feats have
reached "legendary" proportions. Not disagreeing with you, just
pointing it out.
