Hi,all...........
Just a curiousity..........

MASH,as we know it,is unique for the way the actors portrayed the characters
and brought the storylines together. And made the show what it is.

But,.....IF it were re-made today(!!!!!),using the actors/actress`s that we
all know from today`s movies/video/TV...WHO would everyone think would suit
the different roles, occupied by Alda,Rogers and Co.??? Even lesser
characters like Rizzo,Igor,or various `indiginous` people.....

Todays stars could be anyone we currently view...ie.Tom Cruise,Jude
Law,Harrison Ford (Hey,he`s old,but still current-...ish) Matt Damon,the
Rock,Rachel Weisz...ANYONE really?? Hell,EVEN the Olsen twins!!!

Also....Would we still have the setting in Korea??? Or in Vietnam (like
people say it was meant to be) or WW2,or even a Gulf War 1 or 2 ????

If people could write a few words to explain who and why would be good.
:-}

Me,personally,I would possibly have Jackie Chan play the lesser Asian
characters...as Pat Morita`s Capt.Pak,or even as Kim Luck (...hey,I`m me!)
due to being a `straight` character, but with a bit of humour thrown in.

Probably a strange request,but just a thought I had....
ANY comments are appreciated.
Many,many thanks,people.
Cheers!!!
P.S. keep in mind that they seem to re-make a lot of old movies etc.
:-}.

I think it's a delightful question. I watch no TV, by
choice. So, I'm sure I have no clue who the current actors
are.

Showing my age, here. I'd have loved to see Micahel Landon
show up, and take a ride on Sophie. I'd also liked to see
Alan Hale Junior show up, and call Winchester "little buddy"
just to see the smoke pour out of Stier's easrs. I'd like to
have seen Sally Struthers as a peace activist, and get Alda
all riled up in his war against the war. Until she is
captured by the NK, and rescued by Potter, and Rizzo. Morgan
Freeman could visit, as a passing pastor, and engage Mulcahy
in conversation. Who was the other guy in Bucket List. Jack
Freeman? He would be great as a visiting general. John-boy
Walton as a war correspondent. I guess there are plenty of
ideas.

Hehehe. I just love reading your posts!

Who was the other guy in Bucket List. Jack

Yep. Jack Freeman rocks! He was 'specially great in The Shing and One
Flew Over The Cocky's Ness.

I'm not, like, showing my age LOL?

I'd love to see the MASH show continued. But, I doubt there
will ever be a gathering of such talent, again.

I've been thinking about this off and on since the question was asked...
Haven't thought of everybody yet, but this is a start:

BJ - John Krasinski. He seems to have the right combination of
practical joker and "nice guy"

Henry Blake - Craig T. Nelson. Plays goofy really well, but also can be
serious.

Igor - The guy who plays Christine's brother in "The New Adventure of
Old Christine" (don't know his real name)

I've thought of a left-fielder for Margaret; but I'm still not sure if
she's the best one. I'm still trying to think of a blond... My current
choice is Catherine Zeta-Jones. She's beautiful enough to be called
"Hot Lips", and she can do both comedy and drama. She also seems to be
able to give orders and yet be insecure...

I'll keep my thinking cap on :)

If it was a remake of the series based on the original characters from
Season 1...

I think Will Ferrell would be good in the Trapper role.

Cameron Diaz as Hot-Lips.

Wayne Brady as Spearchucker

Steve Carell as Frank Burns

Tough to think of an Alda type to play Hawkeye. No idea for Blake.
Can't imagine anyone but Stevenson doing it.

I like the Diaz one...I think she would fit the role of Hotlips
I kinda like Damien Lewis as an actor.I liked the way he portrayed Maj.Dick
Winters in Band of Brothers.Having read the book, and other background
materiel,Winters was a decent-values,`caring about those around him sort of
guy`,easy going,Lewis played the character quite well...(well,I thought) so
he could probably do a BJ :-}
Stormin` Mormon`s yesteryear actors....Landon is also a decent,family values
guy,caring,automatically earns a good respect,the fatherly figure officer.He
would be an ideal Potter.I can imagine Landon doing Potter`s emotional
pleading of `they invent new weapons, why can`t they invent ways to stop this
stupid war??`(or similar)
Cheers

People say that? There are people who don't know the show was based on
someone's actual (fictionalized) memoir of actually serving in Korea?
In any case it couldn't be set before the Korean war because there
weren't MASHes before that.

But to answer your question, I believe Matt Perry could pull off
Hawkeye. As a fan of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip I naturally
therefore want to see Bradley Whitford as Trapper John, but that's as
far as inspiration takes me today.
