My Analysis:
Over the Chrismas holiday, I saw Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto", and would
swear he wrote the movie script while reading this Tarzan comic :) That
aside, check out these Lost connections:
-Ape to English Dictionary (Useful while conversing with Joop, the Hanso
Foundation eternally young monkey)
"rock" "hollow" and "arrow" translations might be useful on the Lost
Island

http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002ibcover.html
-Little Tommy Newsome is being held hostage with the threat of torture, if
his father, Mr Newsome doesn't help refine radioactive material (thorium).
http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002_p06.html
-Low and behold, Mr Newsome is being held underground in a hatch that
contains strange machinery.
http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002_p19.html
-And the destruction of mankind is eminent, from the research done in this
underground facility
http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002_p20.html
-A Floating Island (Holy crap BatMan!) provides a partial solution to this
mystery.
http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002_p29.html
-Little Tommy and his Father are finally reunited (Daddy Issues)
http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002_p31.html
-Of course no good action story is complete with out some dynamite. (Dude,
You got some Arzt on you)
http://hometown.aol.com/buch112233/t002_p32.html
-And the story moral? Why does man always wind up using the secrets of
nature, for the destruction of his fellow man?

What the heck does this have to do with Lost?
Discover how Hurley's numbers (4815162342) easily and logically translate
into a real world date.

The more I think about all these supposed Lost connections to March 4,
1948, the more I think it's just wishful thinking. For the purposes of
discussion, pick _any_ date from the 20th century
eg. February 4, 1967
eg. May 5, 1986
eg. December 16, 1974
and using a google search, find some supposed link to Lost
eg. mention of an island
eg. an underground hatch
eg. use of chemicals that are harmful in some way to the environment
eg. animal experiments, etc.
Try it!

eg. December 16, 1974 and animal experiments, use of chemicals:
http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/78127_1.html
In a letter to Mr. Edward J. Baier, Acting Director, NIOSH, dated
December 16, 1974, Dr. John A. Zapp, Director, Haskell Laboratory, E.I.
du Pont de Nemours and Company (Du Pont), Wilmington, Delaware,
expressed concern over the potential carcinogenicity of chloroprene
(2-chlorobutadiene). Du Pont had begun looking closely at this
substance recently because of the similarity in chemical structure with
vinyl chloride. Du Pont has utilized chloroprene in the production of
neoprene (polychloroprene) since 1931.
In the course of a literature search on chloroprene toxicity, Du Pont
uncovered two recent Russian articles that suggest an increased
incidence of skin and lung cancer in workers exposed to chloroprene.
Also, two other articles in the Russian literature were located that
described animal experiments in which chloroprene adversely affected
embryo development in rats and mice.
Du Pont has informed its employees of the Russian reports and has
alerted its customers to the possibility of "escaping chloroprene"
during the processing of neoprene. The company is conducting
epidemiological studies in humans and animals to ascertain the
carcinogenic potential of chloroprene.

And a game it is :)
The Lost creators have created a TV/Game hybred, with the clues scattered
all over the world wide web.
Unfortunately, the game box does not include a set of RULES.
So here is what I did:
First, I worked hard, thought long about the Hurley numbers (4815162342).
I spent nearly 6 weeks in late 2005 twisting, turning, flipping, graphing,
adding, subtracting converting to binary and manipulating Hurley's Numbers
more ways then I even want to admit :)
When I discovered Hurley's Numbers represented a date, I began to look for
real world events that ocurred on that date, via the web.
I soon discounted obituaries and birthdates of people that were not highly
notable, because there are thousands.
I reasoned that if an event that ocurred on March 4, 1948 was highly
notable, and had at least a couple of Lost storyline connections, it was
worth noting and researching in more depth.
I basically began to "Reverse Engineer" the numbers. Hackers will know
what I mean by reverse engineering. It's when you start with a finished
software product, tear apart the code, in an attempt to remove the
software "protection". This is a natural imbred geek process, native to
geeks like Lindelof :)
Now here is what I propose David. First find some series of numbers in
Lost that can be converted in a logical manner to a date. Dont pull the
numbers out of your....dark and void space :)
Then following the above steps, use that date to find Lost connections.
When you have done that for 6 months, report back with your findings, and
we can critique your findings, OK <wink>
And during the process, have fun, and laugh....because life is short :)

You honestly think that there are connections between a 59 year old comic
book and LOST?
Because it mentions an island and daddy issues and dynamite?
honestly...you can take anything and apply that logic to it and make a
connection. Star Wars, Star Trek, hell maybe even Seinfeld.

Do you honestly believe a hundred foot high statue with 4 toes exists on
an invisible island?
Then we can both agree to disagree, LOL
Buy lots of Toilet Paper stock, cause when March 4, 1948 is revealed, wood
pulp will skyrocket

Um...in reality or in the context of the TV show LOST? You do realize its
just a show, right? You act as if its a documentary.
Whatever meds you're on, up the dosage.

March 4, 1948 already revealed itself...59 years ago.
Honestly...all the work you put into it to come up with that date, and
really vague relationships...is amazing...but I really think you need to
move on. Its the third season now...6 episodes in, and the numbers aren't
even a part of the show anymore. They have no relevance, get no
mention...the hatch is gone. Its called a red herring. Despite how big of
a deal was made about them in season 2 and the ARG...the numbers were
meaningless, and may or may not ever be mentioned again.
If March 4, 1948 ever does get a mention, its because the creators of the
show have read your posts and your site and stuck it in to get a rise out
of you...that doesn't make you right...that makes you a punchline.
I have been a punch line before, and if you have read the news group, you
know it hardly even slows me down. I am convinced March 4, 1948, and the
real world events of that date in human history plays an important part in
the Lost saga. So no matter what any one says, I dont really care. I am
convinced, and that's what matters. For those that are annoyed by my
posts, just filter them, ignore them, hell , even reply to them. But I
have thoroughly examined the evidence, and untill we get another new
"hatch" or hurley number, I will continue my research.
BTW, explore March 4, 1948 for yourself....there is much yet to reveal :)
