One of the sets resembles an earlier news stand used in a Desmond-Charlie
scene, occurring in London.
The latest news stand has posters on it's side, one of which is
reminiscent of a London poster, photographed by Ozawa in an alley, but not
shown during the actual episode of Lost.
Both posters feature "pigeons"

(The original pic in in Ozawa's flickr set...I just can't find that link
at the moment)
Note that both locations also have posters with the name "Big
Oyster." The London poster has the band "Pigeon Bears," while the NYC
poster seems to have "Pigeon Beard."
I knew if anyone would remember, you would :)
What do you make of this tdciago?
Well, I know what robgood will make of the pigeon references:
pigeon: (Slang) One who is easily swindled; a dupe.
:)
I've posted before about the use of carrier pigeons in the ancient
world, and ironically, there was also a kind of con game involved
then:

Maybe the "pigeon" posters are just the producers' way of poking fun
at us fans.
The "Big Oyster" references make me think of the Pearl station. _Bad
Twin_ also has a plotline involving black pearls.
Bernard: No, no, no, oy... oysters. Oyster. Pearl, for Rose.
Jin: No oyster. No oyster here.
In searching around, I came across the Wikipedia page for Blue Oyster
Cult, famous for the song "(Don't Fear) the Reaper," written and sung
by Buck DHARMA.
"The name 'Blue yster Cult' came from a 1960s poem written by manager
Sandy PEARLman....In Pearlman's poetry, the 'Blue yster Cult' was a
collection of ALIENS who had collected to secretly guide Earth's
history....The hook-and-cross logo is that of KRONOS, the king of the
Titans and father of Zeus in Greek mythology, and is the alchemical
symbol for lead, one of the heaviest of metals."
I have no idea if Charlie and all the rock references on the show are
slyly pointing to Blue Oyster Cult, but I thought all the coincidental
tidbits were very amusing.
During Double Jeopardy on the November 18, 2005 episode of Jeopardy, the
category "I Need More Cowbell" referenced the skit. The final "answer" in
the category was "Don't fear this band who turned cowbell from a cult into
a religion."
Oh My! LOL, Without revealing too much in this forum, tdciago, I bet you
were already aware of this?!
Wasn't the cow outside the Flame station wearing a bell around its
neck? LOL.
Get a load of this info regarding Blue Oyster Cult's "Imaginos" album:
<Begin quote>
"At the core of the story is a secret history which Pearlman described
thus: "an interpretation of history - an explanation for the onset of
World War I, or a revelation of the occult origins of it", in a
September 1988 interview with Kerrang! magazine. Central to this
history are "Les Invisibles", a group of seven beings worshipped by
the natives of Mexico and Haiti prior to the arrival of Spanish
colonists in the 1500s. The nature of Les Invisibles is left unclear,
though it is hinted that they may be extraterrestrials, or beings akin
to the Great Old Ones in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Some fans have
identified them with the Loa of the Voodoo religion. The star Sirius
is of particular astrological significance to Les Invisibles, and it
is during the so-called Dog Days of August, when Sirius is in
conjunction with The Sun, that their influence over mankind is at its
apex. By subtly influencing the minds of men, the beings are said to
be "playing with our history as if it's a game", affecting events in
world history over the course of centuries. For the three centuries
after European discovery of the New World, this game plays out as the
desire for gold is used to transform Spain into the dominant power in
Europe, only to be usurped by England and, later, the United States.
The principal story begins in August of 1804, with the birth of a
"modified child" called Imaginos, in the state of New Hampshire.
Because of the astrological significance of the place and time of his
birth, Imaginos comes to be of particular interest to Les Invisibles,
who begin investing him with superhuman abilities while he is young.
Unaware of his true destiny or nature, the young Imaginos comes to
discover that he is able to change his appearance at will and to see
the future to an extent.

Yep. More specifically a red heifer. The ding-a-ling-ling sound was heard
by Sayid just before we the fans get to see it.

"The Golden Child", yes....a hybrid messianic figure, like a new-age
Christ. Most of these stories, aside from the traditional Christian one,
have one common factor that pops out at me. That is, the immortality of
the soul factor.
In other words "Thou Shalt Not Surely Die", a philosophy I heartily
explore in fiction, but shun in my personal belief system....for reasons I
won't go into in this forum.
(A philosophy that leading geneticists have openly acknowledged as their
ultimate goal for their research.)
I digress.....Have you seen Steven Spielberg's series "Taken" ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taken
A very similar golden child theme, across three generations....not a bad
sci-fi series, and Dakota Fanning, she breaks my heart in everything she
does.....

It's been a while since I saw "Taken", but I should have mentioned (and
you MUST see) the reference to
Jacob Clarke, in the above link.....

I've got to get some laundry done...but one more...
Some of this is weird, I know, but may have some basis in fact, though
distorted over the millenia. THE fallen angel, prince of darkness, first
manifested itself to mankind in the form of a snake. Some UFO abductees
report reptilian grey creatures today. Some of the secret Kabbalah
involves classification of angels...and more
Three recent interviews by Lost cast have hesitantly described the
freighter crew that comes in season 4 as "interesting"
That Walt sure is a "giant" for a 10 year old. LOL
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephilim
The story of the Nephilim is chronicled more fully in the Book of Enoch
(part of Ethiopian biblical canon). Enoch, as well as Jubilees, connects
the origin of the Nephilim with the fallen angels, and in particular with
the Grigori (watchers). Samyaza, an angel of high rank, is described as
leading a rebel sect of angels in a descent to earth to instruct humans in
righteousness. The tutelage went on for a few centuries, but soon the
angels pined for the human females and began to instruct the women in
magic and conjuring. The angels consummated their lust, and as a result
produced hybrid offspring: the Nephilim.
According to these texts, the fallen angels who begat the Nephilim were
cast into Tartarus/Gehenna, a place of 'total darkness'. However, Jubilees
also states that God granted ten percent of the disembodied spirits of the
Nephilim to remain after the flood, as demons, to try to lead the human
race astray (through idolatry, the occult, etc.) until the final Judgement.
In addition to Enoch, the Book of Jubilees (7:21-25) also states that
ridding the Earth of these Nephilim was one of God's purposes for flooding
the Earth in Noah's time. The Biblical reference to Noah being "perfect in
his generations" may have referred to his having a clean, Nephilim-free
bloodline...
And one more to rattle your head....Symphonic Metal...Gothic
Rock....Vampires, Angels and such
(Intro Reminds me a little of Boone's vision of Shannon at the creek)

Ah, Jack / Jacob. Haven't seen the miniseries, but I also noticed the
last name Keys, another recurring "Lost" theme.
Yes, now you're in _The Sirius Mystery_ territory, with the Sumerian
Anunnaki ("those who came down from the heavens") and the possibility
of mankind's extraterrestrial origin.
:)
Well I'll be dogon! Orion, "Old Ones", and Gilgamesh connections.
A "Sitchin" in Time saves Nine :)
