****May Contain Mild Spoilers****

Recent discussion in here prompted me to consider the "golden child"
theory of Lost again.

"When Ben was a kid I tapped him to be the head of the Others- the Golden
Child. I was indigenous to the island, and had the responsibility of
finding the messiah." - Nestor Carbonell

Carbonell's comment of his characters (Richard Alpert)quest to find the
messiah, and Damon's involvement with the Marvel Wolverine series lead me
to poke around Wikipedia and Marvel Comics web sites.

It appears Alpert is not alone in his search for the golden one.

Marvel Comics is producing a 13 part series titled, "X-Men: Messiah
Complex", which centers upon the discovery that a messiah has been born,
and has been kidnapped.

"No mutant babies ever again. As a species, the present-day members of
Homo superior are it. Or are they? The simple, yet amazingly blasphemous
tag for Messiah Complex: and lo, unto them, a child is born."

"They also made a conscious decision to have four distinct camps, and
forcing the characters to align themselves with one or the other of those:
“Save the baby,” “Control the baby,” “Kill the baby” and “Eat the baby.”

I have included the synopsis page from the first 4 installments, the
summary of which is also contained in the links below.
http://lostdude.com/X-MenMessiahComplex1-4/X-MenMessiahComplex1-4.htm

"A messianic figure is a person who is viewed as having a number of the
characteristics of the Messiah in the eyes of a particular group. These
usually include that the person is charismatic, influential, develops a
power base, is appealing to a large group that views itself as oppressed
in some way, and appears to offer a way to overthrow that oppression."

Spoilers are reporting that Locke comments that the Lost offshore
freighter is not coming for them, the survivors, but they are coming for
something.....
