Pay Phones Don't Take Incoming Calls?
I'm watching an SVU ep (Closure, II) and a 911 call was made from a pay phone. The detectives question the 911 operator. The phone call was cut off and they ask the operator if she called back and she replied that pay phones don't take incoming calls. I thought that odd. I seem to remember scenes like a kidnapper giving... more »

OT. There are no protests on federal property.
Libertarians and FIJA. Subject line quotes LEOs in the video at the link at around 1:24. At 2:45 they suggest that there aren't 1st Amendment protections on federal property. At around 2:55 a LEO says you have a right to protest on public property but not federal property. [link]... more »

A Ride Home?
I'm wondering if the police pick someone up and bring them in for questioning do they (the police) have to transport the person back home gratis afterwards?

What do the real RFTH people think of their stories?
I was wondering on this. This incident [from the 11/20 show] happened a few months ago not too far from where the L&O version took place. The writers also threw in a bit from Columbia University's ongoing plan to redevelop a good size chunk of West Harlem as a second campus. But the real life storeowner was treated as a hero. But now he sees... more »

20 November 2009
It seem to me that the show is becoming somewhat liberal. Maybe. At least the writers felt the need to deal with the perception because they had a reporter ask Jack about his liberal agenda. It seems plausible that the accountant shot the thieves/shakedown artists knowing that it might help him get a better deal. But it... more »

OT Privilege? Deputy in contempt? RFTH potential?
In Maricopa county a deputy takes some papers off a defense attorney's table behind her back. The issue is ongoing [link] has a link to video of the deed [link] I admit this amazed me. It seems that not only were the papers... more »

SVU 11/18 - 'Perverted' (spoilers)
A few things... - The date rapist guy, who got locked up earlier for that crime then (when he got out) set Olivia up for murder. DId we ever see that guy before? Was his case a previous SVU episode? - Can DNA really be faked like this ep said it could? - Anyone notice that when SVU detectives leak that photo to the press... more »

Henry Lee Lucas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm watching an SVU this morning. In passing the names of several mass murderers were mentioned, Bundy etc.. One of which was Lucas. I was not familiar with him. Interesting that George W Bush when governor of Texas commuted Lucas' death sentence to life. Henry Lee Lucas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia... more »

OT Military v Civilian courts and 9/11 trials.
Hello all, I know this may seem like complete flame bait, but I am curious as to how people here think Would you prefer that the perpetrators of 9/11 be tried in military or civilian courts and why? If they are tried as civilians then 1) Do you think that every AQ, and perhaps Taliban, member could be tried under Rico? 2) Do you think... more »
