I was watching Heroes last night. Elisabath Rohm was on.

How come Law & Order can't get fantastic actresses like her?

I'm starting to think not. In "Gov Love," which was on TNT the other
day, her reactions to McCoy's proposal to have the court overturn the
New Paltz gay marriages couldn't have made it clearer that she was gay.

I don't recall the EP, all I recall is (to me)on her last show that
lesbian as listed above "came out of left field".

In retrospect. I took a look through some postings from back then and
there seems to be almost universal surprise.

This article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serena_Southerlyn might
dredge up some old feelings for Rohm and has something to say about
her exit and the likelihood that she was a lesbian.

IMO, it's reaching to make that fit into her character being a
lesbian. My sense at the time, and still is, was simply that she was
empathetic to the plight of same-sex couples wanting to marry. You
don't have to be a homosexual to feel that way. Having read about Rohm
having input into that being her parting shot, I have to believe that
it was a last-ditch effort to make a pretty wooden, underdeveloped
character appear interesting. If the intent had been all along that
she was a lesbian, then they could've done so much -- small touches
consistent with the series -- to develop that further. They didn't,
which convinces me that this was a last-minute addition.

Yes, it's easy after she says the line to read lots into what happened
before. But unless people were thinking the character was a lesbian
before the Big Reveal, then there's no proof that what came before was a
tip-off.

You're right, she might have a relative or friend who is gay, so she can
see the need for marriage. Or yes, she could simply see the point to it
and believe in it.

The Law and Order character was a lesbian. Is this also true of the
actress?

She married some guy named Ron Wooster a couple of years back with a
kid on the way. I think she decided her character was a lesbian to
explain to herself why her character was that agitated about gay
marriage. Of course her character was actually the liberal one to
contrast with her conservative predecessor.

So? Lots of gays have dated members of the opposite sex, because they're
still in the closet, because they're in denial, or whatever.

What does Christine Keeler's friend have to do with it? If Phil Ochs
handn't done a song about them, I'd not have a clue who Mandy Rice Davies
is.

Then why wouldn't the director "cut" and re-shoot the scene? If that
was true, I would like to see the "out-takes"!

With 20/20 hindsight. Before her personal revelation she just could
had thought it was just unfair that people would be discriminated
like that. I'm sure she still think like that but of course she has a
personal stake now revealed.

Don't know if she did or not for a fact, but I don't think the
producers would allow an ad lib like that because it would be such a
pivotal development of the character even if she was leaving the
show, but if the writers and producers didn't want it in, it would
had been cut. It does open up possibilities for the character if
Serena Sutherland returns but it makes it harder for others if not
close them completely depending of course if she is not bisexual but
a strict lesbian.
