They have truly run out of any new ideas!

Assistant DA kills people and threatens that all his past cases will be
appealed if he is brought to trial. Sounds like Jamie's friend Charlie.

Assistant DA sleeps with his second chair. Need one mention Jack McCoy.
Or, going back even further, how about Claire and the judge on trial for
stalking and kidnapping back in the Ben Stone days.

Murder defendant takes the stand and totally screws up his
defense---many more L&O cases, but if you follow any real trials on
Court TV, you'll see that murder defendants rarely, if ever, take the
stand. On L&O, they almost always take the stand.

And why does McCoy hand all the appeal files to Cutter and Rubirosa?
They are not appellate specialists. And why doesn't Cutter have a second
chair for that murder trial. Surely Connie is not the only qualified
attorney in the DA's office.

I noticed a woman sitting beside him.

As it happens, I was watching American Justice yesterday, and the case
included the accused getting screwed by going on the stand. But no,
they don't "almost always" take the stand. I'd say they take stand on
Law and Order maybe half the time.

Shit flows downhill. Cutter is the number 2 guy in the office. He'll
actually be handing out cases to other attorneys. However, Cutter and
Rubirosa also just finished a case, so they are free. Everyone else
is probably in the middle of ongoing case resolution.

I don't know. I thought that Rubirosa being an unindicted co-
conspirator was a pretty interesting twist. I wonder how often that
has happened IRL, I mean for someone working in the DA's office.

And I don't think we've ever had a mention of key lime pie before. But
we are getting more and more food mentions aren't we?

And a lesbian kiss. Is that new?

Yes. We've seen that ploy before. Makes me wonder what happened with
Nifong's cases.

I wondered about Lupo being in the car alone with the witness
particularly after the earlier ep with the affair with the con artist.

And a lawyer too. Can we excuse it this time due to hubris? He came
pretty close to objecting to some of Cutter's questions too. I wonder
if had actually done that if the judge would have told him to let his
lawyer do that.

And besides the reasons posted elsethread, so we can see our favorite
cast members get more screen time.

As David/Amicus pointed out he did.

I liked: "Does he have a girlfriend?" "Don't you have a girlfriend?"

Thats a fact I noted the same thing, another one who slips in and out is
the actor who plays the doctor/FBI agent's wife on FLASH FORWARD.
Jane Seymour does some great American accents however.
I like him a lot otherwise. As a different person he dated the female
cop on CI.

Another point here:
Isn't it illegal for an ADA while negotiating with the defendant and
his lawyer to tape the discussion in order to use it to blackmail
him? That move gets a big WTF?!

Only with his client. Not with his own attorney.

Strange, I thought this was a great episode, and one of the better
ones this season. I thought the season got off to a slow start, but
it's picked up steam and I've really enjoyed the last several
episodes.

Don't see it. I really like Daniel Craig in the role.

Yes as have many others for me theres nothing about this guy that is
Bond. Anyway I found CR06 one big bore.
Hes too short, too ugly and has no class

Actor Jonathan Cake (who played the dirty lawyer) is married to
Actress Julianne Nicholson, who is a regular on L&O: CRIMINAL INTENT.

The L&O guest-starring actor you cite is too much of a Pierce Brosnan
clone for me to have liked him in the role (didn't much care for
Brosnan, so I can't imagine liking this guy, either).

Daniel Craig harks back very clearly to early Sean Connery and also
Timothy Dalton, and is also much closer to Ian Fleming's vision of
Bond than either Roger Moore's or Brosnan's "clown with a gun"
schtick, IMO. Personally, I loved "Casino Royale" and also "Quantum of
Solace" because I can actually believe that this guy is trained to
kill, and can do it. Never bought Brosnan, mainly for that reason.

Different strokes, I guess. I like Craig as Bond, and I have fun with
that low-key style of humor. Makes a lot more sense to me, given his
job description.

Of course there is. It's just not in the "wink, shove" tradition of
Moore or Brosnan, or later-years Connery.
