Fox won't renew 'King of the Hill'
Final 13 episodes are wrapping production

Thirteen has proven not-so-lucky for Fox's veteran animated comedy
"King of the Hill."
The network has opted not to renew the series beyond its current 13th
season.
In April, Fox picked up 13 more episodes from the 20th Century Fox
TV-produced show, which are wrapping production.
A lot has changed since "King of the Hill" premiered in 1997. Its
creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have moved on to other projects
-- Daniels developed and is running NBC's "The Office," and Judge has
a new animated series, "The Goode Family," launching on ABC in
midseason.
Judge had continued to voice the central character on the toon comedy,
alongside voiceover cast members Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Brittany
Murphy, Tom Petty, Johnny Hardwick and Stephen Root.
"Hill" has been exec produced by Judge, Daniels, John Altschuler, Dave
Krinsky, Michael Rotenberg, Howard Klein, Jim Dauterive and Garland
Testa.
Fox is introducing two new animated series in midseason, Mitch
Hurwitz's "Sit Down, Shut Up" and the "Family Guy" spinoff "The
Cleveland Show."

The episode plotlines are a little stale recently. That does not mean
that I am still not a fan of the show. I wish they would at least
spend 2-3 episodes returning two three plotlines... 1) Rad Tib-ed-da-
ax-es coming back in Luann's life, 2) John Redcorn or Mr. Strickland
as a rounder character, and 3) Kahn Sr. Kahn is too interesting of a
character to define as just a wanna-be Ted Wasanasong.
It is amazing to me the number of people who I would take as fans of
the show are not and the number of people who should not be a fan of
the show yet enjoy it. My wife was born and raised in New York City,
yet she finds the characters charming and richly defined. I also have
friends who live in Texas and hate the show but cannot explain why.
Anyway, I hope that when they have some time they will re-release the
DVDs with commentary. That will make for a good 40 hours of info-
tainment.
I was once a huge fan of the Simpsons, but I will not be sad when it
is off the air. I will be sad when KOTH airs its last episode,
though.

I'm not too surprised it's being cancelled after this season, since
Fox is adding two new animated shows - I'm under the impression that
the main reason it was "brought back from the grave" after its 10th
season was because Fox had nothing to show in its place.
I wonder if they're going to make significant changes to the already
announced season (now series) finale (where Hank has to flush Cotton's
ashes down a toilet once used by General Patton).

I missed this part: "Given the lead time for animation, it's likely
the series will air its final episode sometime during the 2009-10
season."
