Do you know how hard it is to find a copy of Masque of the Red Death?
And as for his role in Love Potion #9..... not even Sandra Bullock was
any good in that film. (And how many seconds was he in it?)

Maybe instead of writing "introduced to the public at large" - I really
should have out "introduced to a large amount of public."
Because, I think, that is likey to occur in Highlander 4. I would be
surprised if this fillm doesn't make a fair chunk of money when it comes out
(is it August 25th?) - simply because there exists a solid audience-base:
The fans of the series will be there. And they will take their family,
their friends, their friends' families, and their friends' families'
neighbours. Also going to see this movie will be the fans of (1) the
Highlander movies, and (2) fans of Christophe Lambert - both of which exist
in fairly strong numbers. Additionally, there will be the usual
action-flick fans. If the latter two can keep a movie like Beowulf in the
top 20 video releases for as long as they have, then just think what they
can do for HL4.

By the way, he's also been in:

Convergence (1999)
Merlin: The Return (1999) .... Lancelot
Susan's Plan (1998) .... Paul Holland
... aka Dying to Get Rich (2000) (USA: video title)
Dead Men Can't Dance (1997) .... Shooter
Cover Girl Murders, The (1993) (TV movie) .... Patrice (the photographer)
Dance to Win (1989) .... Billy James
Last Rites (1988) .... Tony

The top three and bottom two are incredibly hard to find anywhere. He was
good in Cover Girl Murders - but his character was hardly in it, and the
plot for this "movie" was actually: get some good looking girls into bikinis
and slowly kill them off. Utter, utter nonsense.

Dead Men Can't Dance was a movie about female army Rangers and was
90%hopeless. Had it been about the CIA team that Michael Beihn and Adrian
Paul were in, it would have fared a hell of a lot better. Interestingly,
despite its seemingly low profile, DMCD is still in the top 30 video rentals
here in New Zealand. Believe me, it's not for the storyline. Fans will
watch anything...

And, as for the question of "Do you know how hard it is to find a copy of
'Masque of the Red Death' ... I can only say it is apparently not *too*
difficult. I have managed to order one for $10.

Could you tell me where I could get one, too?
I've been wanting to see it for ages - if not only for the AP content.
From what I've read, it wasn't as good as Roger Corman's original. What did
you think?

I was going off what F. Braun McAsh said (reference to Paul Edmonds: Endgame
Panel post).
I suppose that it *has* been dogged by delays since its inception.
But is it really that optimistic?

I have no idea when it will get down here to New Zealand - we usually
experience a 3 month delay following US release.

As for the movie's popularity, I'm staying hopeful.
Do you think it's going to flop?

I haven't seen any of his movie roles, which judging from what I've
read here, might be a blessing. <g> BUT his tv work that I have seen
has all been solid, you can also find him on Space in War of the
Worlds (short hair! *sob*) and I was delighted to spot him in a guest
spot on Beauty and the Beast (also airs on Space), epi Ashes, Ashes.

He seems to have a fondness for fantasy / sci-fi roles, and why not?
He's good at them. Although I have to agree with those that say the
Highlander role was made for him. At the very least, where else could
he show off that sword talent so perfectly? :)

(Thinking) He could go help Buffy with the vampires <G>. Or get a guest
spot on Xena (there's another series due to film sometime soon!)

It's a very dark series though. I don't watch it because it depresses
the crap out of me. Although the same is often true of the highlander
series...<g> But somehow, AP usually makes it worth it :D

But HL the OS, I stopped watching it everyday after they took away
his kid. They give him one, then they take it right back. UGH! I felt
like such a sap, but that damn episode made me cry! :( I wasn't sure I
could ever watch the show again, but...just couldn't stay away from
AP. :)

Can you be (or at least look) older than 21 and be on Buffy?

And hey, he's far too good an actor to be on Xena! <neg> Although I
think he could play a god rather well, and they seem to get the best
roles on that show...

you write very good. good ideas.

-----------------------

another series?

i dont believe, .. that i have the energy, .. for another higholander
series.

if the series were there, .. and totally excellent, .. then sure, i
would be watching it, .. each week, .. but

. there is so much more in life, than tv shows.

--------------------------

tv shows can fill an essential need, .. to mentally explore new things,
. experience, .. learn, .. etc.

tv shows can give us hope, .. when we are temporarily trapped, .. in bad
situations, .. with negative people.

but l learned, .. that real life, .. can also offer the same good
things, .. as the best tv shows, .. only better.

--------------------------------------

i had to learn new skills, .. for distancing bad people, .. and for
living my life.

i learned a lot, from my watching highlander.

it gave me hope, .. that there were good things and people, .. out in
the world, .. somewhere.

--------------------------

i dont have the energy or time, .. for another tv series.

so now, i would opt for movies, over tv.

---------------------------

the problem with movies?

they overspend to make them.

then, they expect huge profits.

often, greed rules in movie-making.

greed kills most things.

---------------------------------

highlander was different.

i think that the hollywood-type-folks, .. are still very angry, ..
that highlander slipped in, under their noses, .. and was so danged
good!!!

highlander attracted so many fans.

in essence, .. it stole the air-waves. for a while.

did you notice, .. how the media .. ignored that?

----------------------------------

the media is now owned, .. by a few corporations, .. who only want to
profit.

they have no intention, .. of selling us something, .. that they dont
outright own, .. lock, stock, and barrel.

-------------------------------------

highlander was like a 'rebel' show.

i am a southerner, and a rebel.

i admire, that rebel quality, in most things.

-----------------------------------------

highlander was quality, .. and it really made it, .. succeeded, .. on
its own merits, .. and on fan support.

most shows are just marketed nonstop, .. to try to attract fans.

highlander was so good, .. that they did not have to do that.

-----------------------------------

so, the highlander movies, .. would need to reflect this same quality,
.
and not the usual, .. hollywood-ish, poor-quality, hard-sell,
ego-and-vanity-driven tactics.

-------------------------------------

if highlander can be creative, .. can keep costs down, .. and can put
out, one movie after another, .. then, that would be very good.

it would almost be, like a series, .. with a longer period, .. between
episodes.

---------------------------------------

i feel, that it is very important, .. to not wear the actors, .. down
and out.

human beings are .. very flawed and fragile creatures.

-----------------------------------------

we have a symbiotic relationship, .. with what we like on tv, .. with
the shows and actors.

they take. we take. we both profit.

(in our lives, .. we are often driven and ruled, .. by our emotions, ..
and our emotional needs.)

--------------------------------------

actors, producers, directors, writers, etc., .. sell us shows and
products, .. for profit, ...
but also sometimes, .. to do something good.

highlander did (and does) .. a lot of good.

it is very important for us as viewers, .. to not expect or demand, ..
too much.

-------------------------------------------

highlander shows, .. a definite distinction, .. between good and evil.
morals.

we now live in a society, .. of so many 'alternative' (!!!!) values, ..
where we are constantly attacked verbally, .. no matter what our beliefs
are.

(this is wrong and sad.

it is intolerance, of others, .. selfishness ..
and a disregard .. for personal rights and freedoms.)

---------------------------------------

highlander was different.

highlander took a stand, ..
and they showed many degrees, levels, and kinds, .. of good and evil.

moral dilemmas.

i liked that.

---------------------------------------------------

a series would probably be .. too stressful and demanding, .. on the
actors, etc.

the people who make the shows, ..
usually have to sacrifice all their time, .. for many years, .. in order
to do it.

-------------------------------------------------

plus, there were reports, .. that the actors were injured, .. in making
the shows.

many bodily injuries, .. do not heal completely, .. and there is
constant pain.

i know that now, .. from personal experience.

-----------------------------------------------------

we want the actors, producers, directors, etc., .. to have enough time
now, .. to get to live and lead, .. their personal lives, too.

by their doing that, .. and doing it well, ..
they can exist to make, .. the best highlander movies possible.

when they are overworked and exhausted, .. they cant.

-----------------------------------------------

i would opt for movies.

it would be so much fun, .. to look forward, .. to each movie.

-------------------------------------------------

you were right, about the sixth season.

i was injured in a fall, .. so i did not get to finish watching it.

but the actors looked .. so tired and distracted, at times.

the all-out efforts and continuity, .. that highlander usually put into
their shows, ..
were lacking at times, .. in the sixth season,
and there was some fumbling, ..
but the shows were still good.

they were still better, than anything else on tv.

------------------------------------------------

in the sixth season, .. the actors seemed, to be changing as people, ..
and moving on .. with their own lives and careers.

that is very difficult, for the fans.

----------------------------------------------------

i think that movies would be very good, ..
but only if, they were done, .. in positive ways, .. that could succeed.

and not, .. as vehicles only, .. to cause the most shock value, ..
and to make the most money possible.

-------------------------------------------------------

in the past shows, .. i loved the chemistry, .. between Conner and
Duncan.

they play off each other, so well, on screen.

to compare them .. seems pointless.

and even if Connor is killed off, .. he can still come back.

it is 'the movies'.

------------------------------------------------------------

whatever happens, .. it is still "the movies", ..
and it can always be changed, .. by plot twists.

-----------------------------------------------------------

nothing is ever perfect.

but isnt it such fun, .. for us to feel so passionate and emotional
sometimes, .. when we are watching highlander, ..
or arguing about a story line, or moral choice?

i love it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

highlander is like a wonderful, emotional, rollercoaster ride.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

in life, i have learned .. to be very passionate, .. about anything ..
that i am learning.

(i like to learn .. dozens of different things, .. at one time.)

only in that way, .. do i have the mindset, .. to learn and to
experience things, .. the very best.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

i read about .. the passion involved in learning, .. in a book once.

to fall passionately in love, .. with a subject, .. really is .. the
best way to learn it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

the people who write here, .. on highlander chat, .. seem to often
dwell, .. on exact words, ..
the exact words, that are written, .. by each person.

i dont.

i use thousands of words, .. to try to capture and express, .. just one
emotion or thought.

if you miss feeling anything, .. when you read what i write, ...
then you really have missed, .. what i have tried to say.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

my vote is for movies.

tv series seem .. to take too much, out of actors, .. especially over
time.

movies can give them, more time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

movies of the week .. would also be a good vehicle, .. for shows.

a weekly series, just looks too hard, and too risky.

----------------------------------------------------------------

those are my thoughts and opinions, right now.

but hey, i just woke up, and it is morning.

and now, i have to get up and get busy.

------------------------------------------------------------------

thanks for writing what you did.

i enjoyed reading it.

bye

Hey, TPTB re-wrote Hercules as a nice guy! Who's to say they can't turn
Adrian/Adonis into a recurring character? I hear rumours that Aphrodite is
going to be around next season, so it'd work.

Not for the first time. He evolved a bit in the original myths as
well. Although he's always been the nice hero for about the last two
centuries or so...

Reading the classics is more fun though. Hercules the drunken sod!
Hercules the stupid slut! Far more fun really <g>

Who's to say they can't turn

You mean just keep the gorgeous? Rewrite the shallow character and
seriously fatal relationship with Venus? :)

I hear rumours that Aphrodite is

She could be done far better than they do.

And what about Athena, huh?

*laugh* Yeah, they can be fun, but they're just exhausting to be with
every day, right?...<g>

Well, he certainly sounds more natural.

But then his Scottish never sounds right to me. I have Scottish
friends, and in person I can barely recognise it's English that
they're speaking <g> Compared to that even Connery sounds weak and
false...*laugh*

But hey, it's not like they've gone and done something complete
foolish and unbelieveable with accents. Something absurd, like have a
Frenchman as Scot, and a Scot as a Spaniard / Egyptian. now, who would
do THAT?

I have one Scottish friend. ::::waving to Jette::::
I found it easier to understand Jette than my roomie from England. ::::waving
to Philippa:::: But Philippa is a speed talker.

Except when she reads Pratchett aloud.... which will always remain one of my
favorite memories of Legacy..... perfectly read and acted!!!!

Jette is experienced at trying to make herself understood by
Americans and has learned to =speak slowly and clearly and
in as close to perceived English pronounciation as possible
under the circumstances= <g>

Get me together with one or more other Scots and you'll
be going *huh???* with the best of them ;-)

I wish Elaine had been able to make the journey this time
to Legacy. She and I love to *hold court* in the bar and
talk the hind legs off any donkey in the vicinity <g>

I was just excited <G>. I can talk slowly (and not at all!), but it was my
first time in America and I'd just met you, so I was a bit giddy <G>.

Thank-you :::blushing modestly::: Even the Amercian accents <G>?
