Who finally got Bob to let her write something here.
Who wants a sword of her very own.
Who has to give the computer back now. Bye. <sob>

Yeah Eleanor!
(I hope he's been keeping you up-to-date on the "sword" posts.)

Tell Bob that if you can't have a sword, you want your own
computer, a second phone line, and your own internet account.
The sword would be cheaper.

She should have held the computer for the ransom of at least one sword

Eleanor, come back!
Bob appears to be a reasonable sort of guy. He must know by now that if
the ng does not hear from you directly now (after hearing _about_ you for
so long) that he is going to be bugged unmercifully. And about that
sword- he is getting used to the idea (or maybe just resigned, but
protesting to maintain appearences...?) I'm sure you can get lots of
helpful advice on nice starter swords...

Ooooooohhhh, an examination!!!! I like this. Whom do we get to
examine???? The mind boggles.

Does he teach this one in alternating semesters? I'm right there.
"Physiology and technique" -- have mercy...

Hi Eleanor!!! We're really glad to get to meet you!
Bob, you must let Eleanor play with us more often. I bet if you did, she
might even be more amenable to that whole software thing.
Especially seeing as how she'll be distracted by the way the light reflects
off her new sword. <g>

I'm back! I'm back! Bob had an interview late this afternoon, and I am
sneakily appropriating his computer behind his back (if his back were
here now, which it isn't).

And I thought no one would notice that one--should have known better.
Bob has kept me informed about all the sword stuff (yes, all of it!).
Half the time I'm leaning over his shoulder anyway, saying "Whatdidthey
saywhatdidtheysayhethinkswhat?howcouldshesaythatooooohhhthat'sgood." But
he puts up with me patiently. I've been going on about wanting a sword
for a while now, but his resolve is firm, so far. Lost cause; do
you think everybody could give him a hard time for me in Baltimore? (Oh,
dear, now I'm going to have to reload and mark this message read--mustn't
forget.)
> Hi Eleanor!!! We're really glad to get to meet you!
Thank you. I'm happy to meet you too!

Oh, yes, I would! It's not as if I'm asking for something _stupid_ or
anything. I mean, my older daughter (the one who was mixed up at the
hospital because she doesn't like HL) has a sword (she does martial
arts), so I should be able to have one to look at.
As for what somebody said about younger daughter, she has gone absolutely
nutty about Methos. She even joined the PWFC. Then I got a rather
strained little phone call from her: "Mother. They want me to make
friendship bracelets. They are _sweet_." I don't know how long her
enthusiasm will last under those circumstances, but at present she is
maniacal.
Hope I get to talk some more sometime, but I don't want to intrude; Bob
doesn't bother me as much on highla-l as I bother him here, but I think
that's understandable. But it's bad enough that he suspects that my
interest in HL might be more than coldly academic, you know? He's quite
right; I should have gone into imagination-death by now; I'm far too old
for this, but it's more fun than the bridge club. (The bridge club never
suspects that I lead a secret life of which they know nothing. ;-> )
Eleanor
Not only that, Eleanor should see all the good things Robert is writing
about her! Ignoring the sword issue, however. . . . ;)
Sharon
Welcome back, Eleanor!
But, no, No, NO, you're not too old. When you do have imagination-death,
then you will be dead; age has nothing to do with it!

It's good to finally meet you in person (or as close to that
as we get 'round here.) You must come play with us more often,
and don't worry...in time Bob will cave and let you buy a sword.

Please Bob, please get Eleanor a sword. For Valentines Day, perhaps?
It is a very romantic gift.... What a thoughtful and chivalrous husband
you would be. I mean, we all think you are the greatest (remember we were
going to clone you?) Don't disappoint us, Bob.
I know, Bob is really getting Eleanor a sword for Valentines Day or their
anniversary and it is a surprise. We better keep quiet and not say
anything to Eleanor or we will blow his surprise. We will just whisper
when we talk about Eleanor's sword that she is getting. OK?
<Pssst - I heard Bob's getting Eleanor a sword for Valentines Day. Pass it
on.> (Or perhaps Eleanor is getting Bob a sword for Valentines Day? Yeah,
that's the ticket! Like my husbands Boom Box that he just *had* to have
for Xmas 2 years agos and has spent it's entire life in my studio keeping
me happily entertained while I cut glass <g>)

I sort of thought "Something Wicked" would be after the end of the
semester (or quarter). In any case, the instructor of record would
probably be Chandra Devane (she was the head of the art department and
asked Duncan to teach), so even if Duncan skipped out, the class would be
her responsibility.
I want all of you to know that I am listening to every word of this. I
think there is some sort of plot here.
I have done many kind and sweet things in my life.
I don't think she really NEEDS a sword.
Maybe I'll get her something useful for our anniversary, like some nice
pots and pans or maybe a new electric hedge trimmer.
Is it time for a :-) ?
Honestly, I wasn't planning on getting her anything, and maybe she'll
count the trip to Syndicon as a present. Do you know how much it costs
to send kids to college? And this is our fifth year in that condition!
Bob
If I know Eleanor (and I do), Swords, physiology and technique is exactly
what she meant to say; after all that stuff I've learned since I've been
on this NG about swords and the subtle meanings and uses thereof, I have
no doubt at all about it. The woman has a _filthy_ mind. Always
has. Someday I'll have to remember to complain about that, I suppose.

Vicki's right Bob, let Eleanor come out and play...pleeeaassseee?? Once
the sun's done shining on the sword she can use the computer and you can
polish that gleaming sword for her. What a guy!!

Hi Eleanor -
This class sounds great. Tell Bob you signed up for it, and that
one of the things required for the class, besides books, is one
authentic HL sword. If that doesn't work, Valentine's day is
coming up! ;)
Jill, who isn't worried, because one way or another, Eleanor is
going to get her sword :D
