It is in the Ep Methos he tells Mac that he took his first head 5000 years
ago.  I would think he did that before he met up with Kronos and the rest.

He took his first head about 5,000 years ago and the rest before that is just a
blur. I think when he rode with Kronos, Silas and Caspian he was already about
2,000. Boy... he must have had a
fun adolescence...<snerk>.  Or was it an angry one?
