I just finished watching "Space Odessy 2001" and the voice of the ship's
computer, Hal 9000 seemed very familier to me...Then it struck me!...The
actor (also featured in NBC's "The Office) who played Arthur the
Aprentis in Six Feet Under had quite exactly impersonated the speech and
style and likeness of the Hal 9000....Cool!...john

Given that the movie was released when Rainn was 2 it seems a bit odd
that he would have selected what is currently a rather obscure film
but anything is possible I suppose.

I always thought that Arthur's departure on 6 Feet seemed rather
unexplained. At one point he is inserting himself into the family and
then he was out.

Arthur was accused of shipping feces to George, Mrs Fisher's (i forgot
her first name) husband. Come to find out it was George's son who was
shipping the feces after Arthur was long gone...john

I have a vague recollection that that was because Rainn got a
better job offer.

His father, possibly. The voice was done as a tribute?
