confused about Luke & Lor housing

was wondering why Lorelai's house was insufficient, especially since
Rory was off to college. Does Luke need to sleep near his diner?
In another episode, IIRC, Richard and Emily seek to buy a house for
Luke and Lor.
In another thread, Luke is overseeing the reconstruction of Lorelai's
house by a contractor.
I'm not sure what order these events occur in. It's bothering me. Can
someone give me a summary?

Luke always liked the Twickham house and thought it would be a good
place to raise kids.

A conciliation wedding present, since they figured no matter what
they did, Lorelai was going to marry Luke.

Stupid TJ beat a hole in the second floor bedroom when Luke conceded
to Lorelai that if she didn't want to move, they would fix up her house.

I suspect Dan is referring to the early S6 renovations, which weren't
motivated by code violations (at least not until TJ knocked the hole
in the house) but modifications to make the house better as a
permanent Luke-Lorelai-possible children residence.

Let me guess...........Lorelai didn't get a home inspection before
buying it?
When you buy a house get a home inspection using your own inspector.

Twickham House in "Fight Face," season 6, episode 2. But to some
extent buying the house was a minor ongoing topic for a couple
three-or-four episodes. Also in that episode: T.J. tries to start an
expansion of Lorelai's bedroom but only succeeds in knocking a
ginormous hole in the outside wall of her bedroom.

Yes. He needs to be there for early-morning deliveries of inventory
something like 3 days per week IIRC. He's an earlier riser, Lor's a
late sleeper, so he was trying to be polite, but there was also an
undercurrent of both Lor and Luke, as loners by habit, being somewhat
out of their comfort zones by sleeping at each other's house. When
Luke finally buys a small TV for his apartment for Lor to watch late
at night, she stayed there more often. Hence, when they break up in
Say Something, a TV is one of the items being hauled into Lor's house
from Logan's limousine. (WBB/SS are ep. 100/101 and therefore from
season 5.)

Yes, that's IIRC, in mid-ish s7, when Lor still hasn't told them that
she and Luke broke up at the end of season 6. (This is the one that
I'm unsure about.)

This all happened over the course of around two seasons, so it would
take a while to come up with a complete timeline, but tv.com has

It wasn't so much that as the house was six years old and, despite how
sets and actors always look idealized on television, not well-kept in
terms of general structural maintenance because Lorelai's, like,
y'know, not the repair wiz.

We don't know how long the house existed, but it's a Stick/Queen
Anne-style (revival) house, so it may have been up for several decades
before she bought it. So start with any reasonable guesstimate that
you have regarding the age of the house itself, then add six years and
you've got a house in need of lots of repair by the fall of 2000.
